Strengths:    Style

Weaknesses:    These shoes don't fit like Vans

Bottom Line:
I have been wearing vans for about 17 years now,not only because of style, but mostly because of fit. I put this shoe on my foot and immediately my toes were crushed. I didn't even try to ride it. If you like the fit of Nike's then these might be okay if not look for something else.

Strengths:    Comfort
Stiff

Weaknesses:    Not as stylish as you think
Tough access to get the SPD hole cover off

Bottom Line:
This is a decent shoe for the price, I got mine on close out. I haven't used them for very long so I don't know about durability. They should not be used for riding flat pedals as it will not grip as well because of the stiff sole. The tread is not very aggressive but it will work and there is a wear pad on the inside for where your cranks rub against your ankle. They are not as stylish as the pictures make them look, although they are better than a lot of geeky looking shoes. These will probably last me a long time since I rarely ride spd's. It is also tough to get the sole part off when you first get them because they are glued on pretty good, just make sure to cut around the cutout and take a screwdriver to get under it.

Strengths:    Construction, Fit, Comfort, Looks

Weaknesses:    Sole

Bottom Line:
This is the most comfortable shoe I've worn. They don't work well for DH thought. The rubber on the sole is not deep enough. The SPD cleat sticks out so far that none of the rubber on the bottom of the shoe touches the platform part of the pedal. I might as well be using 747 cross country pedals. Too bad because it's an awsome shoe. I use them on my hard tail for training now. I have non platform pedals on that bike so they work great. If your buying these shoes for Downhill, don't. I think they have some new 2001 shoes that have a new sole that looks a lot better. Oh yeah, this is the exact same sole that comes on their new hightop shoe.

Bottom Line:

Just bought the dualists. Have ridden with them about 4 or 5 times.
Conditions have been wet and shitty every time. My feet stay dry and warm.
The shoes are nice and stiff. I love the high inside ankle padding for those
times when you krank your ankle off your crank. They are way more comfortable to walk in than my old Shimano's (the ones with the green strap and pink). I think they will last too. only time will tell. Big bonus: they look really cool. If I could change them at all, I would replace laces with velcro (for ease of putting on and off, but laces look better).
