This is an update on my review below, 3/4 of a year later. The shoes have let me down. When doing a particularly long race in very wet conditions the padding around the top of the heel got saturated and has lost all it's shape/integrity. this has made the shoes very uncomfortable to wear. I would say that these are a summer shoe only as the mesh design is also very open and does not lend itself to winter conditions. I am currently looking for a more "all round" type shoe. Less chillies as they have not lasted as long as i hoped they would.

Tough, comfortable, relativly stiff, Uppers and sole took 1.5 yrs to show any signs of major wear.
This is a good beginner shoe that has held up to 2+ years of abuse. I have done a bunch of races with them, and they hold up to anything you can throw at them. They're pretty cheap and close effectively, and I have not had any slippage problems until recently. That's only because the uppers are comming apart though. I need ot get a new pair of shoes...

Great tuff comfy shoe. No sign of wearing yet(on shoe upper). BG inner sole works well for my "high arch" feet. Not overly flashy but still stylish and designed well enough to do the job without making you look like a wannabe pro.Cleat doesnt hit ground when walking.
Weaknesses:
Toe protection has colapsed and creased on right shoe but it hasn't affected the integrity of it.

Bottom Line:
I really like these shoes, i bought them after trying my mates Specialized comp shoes with the noepreme inner sock, these aren't as comfy but they were what i could afford at the time and have not let me down at any stage.I noticed some others mention that there tongue moves around but my tongue has developed a ridge down the middle of it so it doesn't move at all.One time i had to run/walk 9km in them and it was surprisingly easy to do so. Really good shoe for the money.

Roomy, airy. Sole is fairly durable.
Weaknesses:
Tongue moves constantly to one side-very frustrating. Heel area is not comfortable once broken in.

Bottom Line:
This shoe is ok for the money. I probably wouldn't buy it again. The tongue thing is frustrating, but I've had this on higher end Shimano shoes as well. I'm not sure why this is such a difficult problem to fix. Buy this shoe if you don't have a lot to spend and are looking for a somewhat comfortable shoe.

I really like the wide toe box on Specialized shoes--it keeps me coming back to them for most my shoe needs (both road & mtn). I don't care for the racheting strap system, so the Sport is my favorite. The sole is decently stiff and had adequate traction--especially for being their low-end shoe. I recommend Specialized shoes to everyone.

They might look good, but I have had problems with them. They do let water in but i dont care about that. They hurt in the arch of the shoe, at least in the begining of a ride. I have really flat feet and based on what everyone else is saying, they are pretty comfortable (for everyone else). You kind of forget about it once you're into the ride, but it still hurts alot. They're the only shoes i tried on and the guy who sold them to me said he had them for years and they were "indestructible". The fabric is looking pretty scuffed up after only light use.

These are my first clipless shoes so use your salt-shaker if you feel it necessary, but I am so impressed with the comfort and durability of these shoes. They are holding up very well (still look new) despite regular long rides and some abuse, and my feet have not hurt once. They have a pretty roomy toe box and air circulates well through the ample venting. I tried on a similar pair of Shimanos at the store and you can definitely feel the difference in the toes so I imagine its a preference thing. Bottom line: I doubt that these shoes can be beat for an entry-level or intermediate shoe. I really love these shoes.

Strengths:
-comfy -breathable -not impossible to walk in -pretty good looking shoe -3 strap system holds my foot well
Weaknesses:
-the tounge always comes out when i put them on, not a big problem but it can get annoying -on longer rides, my toes cramp from the pad which is supposed to prevent that, good work body geometry

Bottom Line:
A perfect shoe for people not looking to break the bank. it does what most other shoes do for a lot less. I said they cramp my toes, but thats only when I ride like 30-40 miles on an old railroad bed, so unless to you ride long rides a lot I wouldnt worry about it. I like the shoes a lot and I've never had a problem with water, but I can see where it could be a problem

The mesh upper easily let's water in. They look nuetral. Not to flashy, not boring. I'll probably try something else for mud but overall it's a great shoe.
