Strengths:    Nice design.

Weaknesses:    Lachet sucks up all sorts of stuff, such as pebbles, wild flowers, grasses, etc. Outer soles wear out way too fast. Durability is highly questionable.

Bottom Line:
For the money I paid, these shoes really dissapointed me. I am looking for a new pair now. If you go through rocks and water, these are not for you. If you do smooth fire road and single tracks, good choice.

Date Reviewed: May 27, 2002

Strengths:    I purchased these shoes because they were far & away the most comfortable pair of mtb shoes I tried (and I tried everything I could find in the Seattle metro area). In addition, Sidi has a great reputation for making products that last. These are equally comfortable on a long mtb ride or a long road ride.

Weaknesses:    Someone told me that one difference between this model & previous models is that the latch that holds the top strap is screwed to the shoe instead of being permanently mounted - presumably to allow the latch to rotate. Unfortunately, the latch has come completely disconnected from the shoe on two occasions. Luckily, I was able to find the latch both times, but if I lose the latch & the screw that holds it to the shoe during a ride it will be a very, very bad day. Solution: check the attachment before every ride and buy an extra screw to keep in my bag "just in case".

Bottom Line:
Awesome shoes and totally worth signing up to do a pre-ride check to make sure the latch is securely fastened.
