Strengths: The shoe is quite stiff, yet allows for a tad bit of flex in case you encounter some HABs.
It comes with removable I love the color combo. They offer great support and have no pressure points, on my feet at least. They come with removable toe spikes that come in handy at times. The white upper portion cleans up easily and nicely. And they are rugged! I’m hard on my shoes and these have no wear except on the tread.Weaknesses: My instep is by no means small. Not above average, but definitely not small. The instep strap is long. Much longer than necessary. So much so that I frequently use ALL of the strap to tighten the shoe to the max, at which point they become a terror to get off. This is completely avoidable by being aware of the issue.Bottom Line: This is Shimano’s 2010 top of the line women’s mountain bike shoe, built on a woman-specific last. It comes in just the one color (white/black). It’s made of a synthetic leather with low-profile armor and breathable mesh upper and weighs in at a published 720 grams.
I must say, after one year of my abuse, it is still one of my favorite and one of the most durable mountain shoes that I’ve had the opportunity to use, despite the fact that they are made on an American last, fitting my Euro feet a bit loosely in the toe box and heel cup. Don’t let this discourage you. It is a stiff shoe, with its carbon teardrop sole, allowing the user to feel the increased transfer of energy almost in the first pedal stroke.
I love the shoe. Wish Shimano made some on a women’s European last.
