Bottom Line:
Absolutely the only shoe I'm wearing from now on.
I previously bought Sidi Dragon 2's for $580 USD... unles you are a pro who would rather bike bear footed cuz you are a stupid freak about being too heavy when racing, Sidi Dragon's 2 are crap.
I bought the Sidi's with the promise they were the most comfortable shoe in the biking world....sorry it is not true. At least not before I tried the Shimano AM50 for what, a 7th of the price? 83 dollars... geeezzzhh.
Bottom line, these shoes are very light, they will give your foot the best protection period, more than DX shoes. And they are the MOST comfortable to wear and walk with. The same as a normal tennis shoe, but sort of like baskeball shoes with ankle support that you will be thankful for.
I had also bought the Addidas Adistar before the Sidis, and the sidis are better than the Addidas, but these shimano's just blow everything away.
Pair these AM50's with Shimano's PD-647, and you will have a setup that you will even dare racing XC with, because it's so damn comfortable, you will never twist your ankle if you fall, and you can kick your opponent much harder to mess him up than he will be able to hit you with his delicate Sidi's.
Your best shoe for just 83 dollars, they also are made to last a long time, all you gotta do in whipe them with a damp cloth every once in a while.

Had to buy from the UK because my LBS (and several e-tailers) could not order. These shoes are very comfortable and easy to walk in. They cover the ankle bones but have a cut-away Achilles. I wear a US size 11 and a 46 fits perfectly. These are not a heavily padded shoe - just right for my use. I use M647 and XTR pedals, works equally well with both. Wiggle gives free shipping with orders over about $150; so you'll want to order some more stuff or shipping is pretty high. I think the shoes were about $98 vs. $139 advertised price anywhere else so its still a great deal even if you pay shipping.
