Date Reviewed: September 25, 2008
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:pricepoint
Strengths:Very durable. I have ride about 3 times a week along with some epic big mile bike rides. I've had these shoes for 6 years. I have worn them on every ride I have done in those 6 years.
Weaknesses:The screw in cleats fell out the first ride but that was my fault
Similar Products Used:Other shoes
Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Bullit
Bottom Line:I don't write many reviews but I have too for these shoes. Like I said, I have worn these shoes on every ride I've done for the past 6 years. Granted the bottoms of the shoes have no traction what so ever on them and they are kinda hard to walk in now because I slip all over the place. But once on the bike you don't really need traction on your shoes. They are pretty comfortable and I have worn them for 12+ hours a day. Awesome shoes for the money.

Favorite Trail:Not Sure
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $45.00

Strengths:It seems to be a great shoe for the price. The triple straps make for a great tight fit.
Weaknesses:None so far
Similar Products Used:None First MTB Shoes
Bike Setup:'08 Gary Fisher Advance
Trek 9I computer
Wellgo M-3 Pedals
Bottom Line:I read many reviews before Ordering these shoes and the majority of them said that they run big so I should order smaller right? Thats a big NO. I wear and 11.5 Us or about 45 UK and I ordered 44 Uk because of the reviews and I had to send them back. They are to d#mn small. If any thing i'd say order a size above what you normally wear. Over all great shoe and can't beat the price. Just a gamble on size as is anything online.

Strengths:Stable, Stiff, Easy to move around on.
Weaknesses:Size runs a touch big.

Bottom Line:Good priced shoes that are made with quality in mind. Had zero issues from the first ride, never needed to be broken in. Cleats have a good range of adjustability, straps equal out pressure over the foot. Make sure you order two pair to get the right size!

Strengths:Well built, looks good.
Weaknesses:none in a year

Bike Setup:Giant Trance
Bottom Line:This is a good shoe for the price. Especially since I got the shoes and pedals for 80 bucks.

Some complain about sizing. I sent an email to pricepoint before I ordered, and they gave me the correct size for my foot.

I have beat the crap of these for the past year and have not torn them up yet!

Bottom Line:These shoes are a great deal. I've used more expensive shoes with similar results. I am very happy with the traction these get on those impossible to ride climbs. The only down side is the sizing. I opted for 1 size smaller as some have suggested. This was still a little large for me. Slip some insoles in and they are perfect though.

Strengths:great value and a great entry level shoe
Weaknesses:none so far. first pair of clipless shoes/ pedals
Similar Products Used:not
Bike Setup:2007 jamis dakota 29er

Bottom Line:this is the first pair of clipless shoes/pedals that i have ever used, after many years of faithfull bmx pedal action. these shoes fit me right out of the box. i normally take a 12 -13 size shoe and i got the 12s. i do notice that one of my feet gets a little fatigued but this is mostly because i have very wide and flat feet. after a while of riding the pain subsides and they feel great. they are built well and cover all the basics that an amature cross country rider like myself needs. sturdy, old school tech may not be super light , but still does the job better than most. the shoes are still reletivly new but i only expect them to get better with time as they break in. cant beat this combo for 100 bucks! way to go pricepoint.com

Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:pricepoint.com
Strengths:Price
Rugged, stiff soles
Easily adjustable with velcro straps
Clean up good as new
Stay cool even in the Arabian desert
Reflective rear sections
Weaknesses:Odd sizing
Look like boats on my feet
Similar Products Used:None - first cycling shoe
Bike Setup:Trek 6500 with Crank Bros Mallets
Bottom Line:Great first clipless shoe, work perfectly with the Mallets (i use one C-Bros shim with them, and leave off the toe studs which get in the way of the big Mallet platform).

most of the criticisms here are because of sizing: inevitably when ordering online there is a risk of getting a shoe that doesn't fit well but for people to write them off because the size they chose was wrong for them is a bit silly. the best shoe in the world will feel like cr*p if it's the wrong size.

if you choose the right size you will find they are well-made, rigid, cool even in desert heat and of course typical excellent Sette value. choosing the right size is a bit tricky though: i normally take UK size 9 or 10, but my Elements are UK 8.5 (US 9.5, 43) and while the width is perfect for my flippers they are about .5" too long (hence the boat comment above). they might look a bit goofy but it makes no difference to the ride: they are comfortable and transfer plenty of oomph straight to the pedal. together with the Mallets they are a great introduction to clipless. i've also found them fine for the walks home when you get an unfixable puncture. definitely recommended! i'm giving them five flaming turds for value and four overall because the styling could be better and the sizing should involve less guesswork.

Strengths:Stiff, relatively cheap, look pretty good
Weaknesses:one bad pinch point on top of the foot, but to be honest, once you're riding you don't even feel it.
Bottom Line:how light the shoes are don't matter until you're racing on an expert level. This is a good shoe for anyone who is trying to save their cash, but still want a quality shoe.

Strengths:These were certainly well priced, and actually look pretty good. Relatively stiff sole with moderate flex.
Weaknesses:EXTREME pinch points on the top of the foot, even with thin socks they were putting my feet to sleep. Which is strange because my foot fit the dimensions of the shoe normally. Couldn't even wear them around the house for 20 minutes. Sent back.
Bike Setup:Cannondale F5, Crank Bros Mallets
Bottom Line:A value, but not worth the low price. Pay more for better shoes or another brand that actually fits.

Weaknesses:The sizing runs BIG! I should have returned these and exchange for one size smaller, but instead I put in an insert and it's ok. I am a size 12(46), but the size 46 are just too big. Be aware of this before you buy!

Strengths:Durable, affordable, looks decent, performs. Really good fit: wraps around my whole foot and keeps my heel down.
Weaknesses:The sole is made of very hard rubber, and thus makes a loud noise when walking on pavement/indoors. Also, the cleats for my Time ATAC pedals stick out a bit further than the bottom of the rubber, so it clicks on the ground and grinds down as I walk on pavement. Not especially cushioned.
Similar Products Used:I tried on a pair of Answer shoes that didn't fit as well. This is the first clipless shoe I've owned.
Bike Setup:~1986 Fuji Club road racing bike. This is my commuter and sport road bike.
Bottom Line:This shoe is an excellent value. I didn't expect $50 clipless shoes to fit this well, work this well and last this well. Overall, I'm impressed, and I'd recommend them to someone on the market for entry level MTB shoes.

Weaknesses:Look a little gay.
Similar Products Used:First clipless shoe.
Bike Setup:Trek 4300 full XT Thud Buster/Liberator
Bottom Line:I put off clipless for a long time because I have such a hard time finding shoes that fit well (13EEE) and didn't want to suffer with an ill fitting cycling shoe. After reading the reviews I took the plunge and bought a pair with Time Alium pedals for a hundred bucks. These shoes fit great and are so well ventilated that you don't even notice them. What you will notice is that you can relax your feet while you ride and a longer power stroke. So if you have wide pigs and are looking to go clipless this is a great deal. I can't say how durable they are because they are still fairly new but they look like they are built to last.

Bottom Line:I quess it can be hit or miss when ordering shoes on-line, but the fit was perfect for me right out of the box. My cannondales lasted about two seasons, and these shoes just seem to be much better built. It sure is nice to buy a pair of shoes at a reasonable price that look good and more importantly function good.

Bottom Line:Shoe was weak out of the box. Tongue construction caused many pressure points on the top of the foot, materials used are low quality, fit is ridiculously bad. I have a very wide foot & still I was swimming in theses things even after ordering a size smaller than I normally wear. I would not recommend this shoe to anyone, even first time clipless pedal users.

Strengths:(First pair of clipless shoes/pedals) I cant say enough good things about this shoe. First off, great price. Especially when you compare it with what is out there. Second, great comfort, i could walk around for hours in these things no problem and on the bike they are rigid and tight. Third, velcro makes for easy on and off. Fourth, Studs in front make for easy climbing on those leaf covered hills. Fifth and least important they just look bad-a$$. These shoes just rock.

Strengths:this is a review for the Sette Ximo road shoe from Pricepoint.com. inexpensive road shoe for the stud on a budget.
Weaknesses:tongue sort of flimsy.
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:Ritchey tubing, full ultegra.
Bottom Line:Again this is a review for the Sette Ximo road shoe from Pricepoint.com. inexpensive road shoe for the stud on a budget.

I've only had mine for a week but am completely happy with them. Tongue is a bit thin but the sole is super stiff. Unique vents on the bottom of the shoe allow for air to flow right up under your foot. sizing is a bit strange. I wear a size 11 for most everything, but they don't carry half sizes. I'll explain: Sette sizing 44 (10.5) and then the 45 (11-11.5). I went with the 45 and it's just a tad bit long for me. About .25 or .5 of an inch. Sort of bummer but not really a concern because i'm not doing any running in these puppies and it will allow some extra space for a thick sock come Fall.

Three velco closure straps across the top of shoe. Plenty. Keeps my heal right back into the bottom of the shoe. don't know what else to throw into this review. Did I mention that they are inexpensive? Don't know how long they'll last but I was in a pinch and didn't have the coin to throw down $180 on a pair of SIDI's. If you do, I would recommend the SIDI's or Shimano's.

Similar Products Used:Specialized Mountain Comp, Northwaves

Bottom Line:These shoes are excellent!!! I was skeptical as I knew nothing about these, and had been using the Specialized with no complaints at all. Hated my Northwaves, and Specializeed were wearing out so I took a chance, and GLAD I did. They fit like a glove and I have no foot pain at all, which has never happened before. The sole seems good and so far they have held up fine, and I thrash shoes pretty good. For XC riders and rec racers, these shoes are the BOMB. Would tell anyone to buy these and they are CHEAP!!! Would have cost me $100 more for a similar shoe and none felt this good. I thought I had it good with my Specialized, but they are not even close to these.
