Strengths: Great fit for slightly wider feet, easy to get in and out of. After riding a carbon sole I can't go back to anything else. Warranty (lifetime).Weaknesses: durabilityBottom Line: I destroyed these shoes in about 7 months and 600 miles of off road riding. The treads on the soles were separating, the sole was separating from the uppers in multiple spots. The cloth uppers are best left for road riders, they were cut in many many places.
While I dinged these shoes pretty hard, Pearl Izumi has the best warranty in the biz. I took my trashed shoes to an outlet store and without question they honored their lifetime warranty. They even upgraded me to the higher end Viper shoe without additional cost. Major kudos to Pearl Izumi. As long as you make something that fits me, I will be loyal after this experience. 2 Thumbs up. I'll review the Viper after 6 months or so of riding on them.

Strengths: Original retrò design.Weaknesses: terrible shoe, not for me...Bottom Line: a bulky shoe, that fit wrong.Sole is made in bad plastic and slips on rocks, wet or dry.The closure ratchet is hard to tune, so that it's impossible to ride confortable for more than one hour. Hard job to install the clips...I've just ridden 4 races and I threw this shoe away...(same for the road model)

Strengths: none yetWeaknesses: bad buckles, material tears, overall fit, soles are too "plasticy" they slip on rocks, wet or dryBottom Line: These shoes are crap! They don't fit the shape (or last) of a human beings feet. The closure ratchet is hard to open to get the shoes off and the soles are sketchy if you are on rocks, wet or dry. Had to trim the sole to get the cleat to work properly. Bottom line...unless they are free save your money. Even free I would buy some good shoes.
