Date Reviewed: May 13, 2000
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Super comfy, super tacky rubber (great for scrambling up rocks in a pinch without slipping), stiff, great energy transfer, sexy.
Weaknesses:Buckle system - more fashion than function?
Similar Products Used:Sidi
Bike Setup:Dean Jester, Manitou Carbon SX, Cook cranks, raceface rings, King headset and hubs, Mavic 517 rims, Thompson SP, Terry Ti Lib Saddle
Bottom Line:Love.....
Never too strong a word to describe my Northwaves. Fit, function, fashion, flash. A great shoe. Multiple ways to adjust the fit.

Not sure about the buckle system though. Seems to be more bomber than that stupid Sidi rachet system, but as far as "micro adjusting" a bit of the mark.

Not sure how long the rubber would hold up if you tend to be a "walker", but if you stay in the saddle most of the time, spend the clams and begin your own love affair.

Date Reviewed: November 11, 1999
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Light weight, durable (so far), great air-flow through the shoe, styling and appearance, adjustable fit
Weaknesses:
None so far
Similar Products Used:
Northwave Compact, Northwave Team Mountain Bike, Shimano
Bike Setup:
'99 Klein Adroit, Manitou SX-R
Bottom Line:These are the first mountain bike shoe designed for a woman's foot that I have purchased. Although my other pairs of Northwaves fit well, these shoes are exceptional. I wear the same size (38) in the Supercompact women's as my other Northwaves, but these fit much better in the heel and provide better support in the arch. There are very comfortable. These shoes have an inner, lace-up liner, plus 2 velcro straps, one with a snap-in gizmo. You can really fine-tune the fit and it is noticeable. I've also ridden with these shoes in major rocks and they soaked up the encounters with boulders lager and small while protecting my feet. Couldn't ask for a better shoe.
