Bottom Line:
Sidi's are superior to these shoes in every respect - fit, finish and materials. Retail on these shoes (2003 model, I believe) was in the $150 range - no way I would pay that, with Sidi Bullets going for $100. At $40, the Northwave's are a decent training shoe, so I can save my Sidi's for racing. If they last half as long as my indestructible '97 Specialized El Gato Comps, I'll be satisfied.

Bottom Line:
Great shoe that fits my large and wide size 15 (50 EUR) feet.
Right now these are the only shoes available in Sweden that fits me :( Therefore they get two thumbs up for large size.
But they brake easilly. Within 6 months from first purchase the sole cracked. Just behind the spd cleat, where you have the ball of your foot, it cracked from inside and out. The sole on both right and left foot cracked as well, wich is kind of strange. Some research showed that I wasn´t alone with this problem. I got them replaced on warranty without hassle though.
Now, about a year later the same thing has happended again, but only on the left foot. It hasn´t cracked completely, only from the inside in to where the cleat is.
The shoe is superb, works great in all conditions and isn´t slippery at all. It works good in snow as well, just put some duct tape over the vent holes and slap a shoe cover over it and it will keep "not freezing" for a couple of hours.
Here´s a pic of the crac: http://www.ettannatlopp.nu/annat/mattiasl/nw_broken_sole/DSC00392.JPG
I´m in the process of getting the NWs replaced, and I cant really choose between the NWs and Sidi Dominator Mega 4. Right now I´m more towards the Sidis but thats because I like to try new things.
They get 4 chilis for value since they are pretty cheap and great shoes, but 2 chilis overall since the sole seems to crack way to easy.

NO PROBLEM WITH THE STRENTHS YET IT SEEMS PRETTY STRONG BUT STILL LIGHT.THE FIT IS REALLY GOOD SO I CHOOSE THEM THAN SIDI AND THE RETENTION OF THE HIL IS THE BEST.
Weaknesses:
THE RUBBER SOLE IS REALLY SLEEPERY ON WET ROCKS AND IT CAN BE A PROBLEM IF YOU HAVE SOME LONG DOWNHILL TO DO.

one of the metal d-rings for the straps broke-- appeared to be fluke metal flaw, had it replaced at shoe store for $5. Really great-looking metallic bronze color, tough materials used, fair price. My left pinkie toe is a little pinched, but not a real issue til the 3hour mark of a ride.
