Strengths:    A very well put together shoe. I haven't had any problems that some have discussed. Grips well in all terrain.

Weaknesses:    Lugs on the shoes like to collect gravel & small sticks....

Bottom Line:
Great shoe for the price and pretty rugged....

Date Reviewed: July 2, 2007

Strengths:    Solid upper, comfortable, simple 3 strap closure.

Weaknesses:    The tread delaminates on both sides of cleat after only a few rides. 1st pair lasted about 10 rides. Shop replaced for free. 2nd pair had same problem after only a few rides, but regular application of glue held the tread on. After about 30 rides the mid sole completely cracked. Now they are in the dumpster.

Bottom Line:
Save your money and look elsewhere. They look pretty good, but are poorly made and do not hold up.

Submitted by Basil Chua a Cross Country Rider from Singapore

Date Reviewed: May 22, 2007

Strengths:    The shoes are very comfortable. Easy to slip on. Fits well for my broad feet. Value-for-money and decent looking.

Weaknesses:    A little heavy compared to most of the current MTB shoes. Soaks up water and difficult to dry.

Bottom Line:
Like the previous reviewer, the sole gave way last weekend while I was in the middle of the trail. What luck? Despite, I must say that it has served me well in the last 2 years of hard and varied biking. It is one of the broadest pair of MTB shoes around for Nike.

I tried to search another pair of Kato in Singapore.... Unfortunately, the local distributor ran out of stock. I settled for a pair of SIDI Mega instead.

Date Reviewed: May 14, 2007

Strengths:    The sole is fairly rigid and they're reasonably comfortable.

Weaknesses:    As mentioned by the last reviewer, the sole of this shoe has started to peel from the rigid footbed. This happened to my shoes within a month of purchase. I bought them a fair distance from my house though and never returned them. They never got any worse, but rocks are able to poke through the sole and into my foot, so they're now in the "wrecked" pile in my basement.

Bottom Line:
For the price I guess I got what I paid for. I wouldn't recommend these shoes, or ANY Nikes for that matter as I've spoken to a few dealers and other riders and it seems like 60% -ish have had problems.

Date Reviewed: September 2, 2006

Strengths:    Easy on and off thanks to the velcro straps. Also easy to get snug on the feet. Fairly rigid footbed for good efficiency. $88

Weaknesses:    I may have purchased them 1/2 a size too large as the upper of the heel comes loose several hrs into the ride. This is mainly noticed when not clipped into the bike (like after I wreck and have to climb back up the hillside to the trail, haha).

Bottom Line:
Overall, the shoes are nice and work well. I would recommend getting them on the tighter side when purchasing, though. Great deal for $88.

Date Reviewed: June 15, 2006

Strengths:    Super comfortable, simple and easy to tighten or loosen while still on the bike.

Weaknesses:    Haven't noticed any yet.

Bottom Line:
These are my first pair of clipless shoes so I didn't really know what to expect but I am very happy with them and don't plan on replacing them any time soon. They've really improved my pedaling efficiency and I'm able to get up stuff I wouldn't have tried on flats with tennis shoes.

Submitted by claire a Weekend Warrior from beijing china

Date Reviewed: April 28, 2006

Strengths:    I have the women's version... pretty much the same shoe though. This shoe is very comfortable on the bike and off. The straps make it easy to get in and out of and helps when pedaling- getting the most out of my effort. The shoes dry quickly and perform well when wet. They're easy to clean. Good grips on the bottom for hiking up the mountain. Good looking too...

Weaknesses:    My heel feels like its slipping out sometimes despite how tightly secured I have the straps. The outer shoe bottom is beginning to peel away from the shoe- hard to describe but basically I fear the shoe is falling apart and I think shoes should last longer. But they work fine still.

Bottom Line:
Comfy shoes, works well, I just fear I may have to replace them too early making them not worth it. They shouldn't be falling apart this soon. I will buy shimano shoes next time.
