Strengths:    Very warm. Great build.

Weaknesses:    Heavy

Bottom Line:
These are great cold weather boots that I have used to ~15 degrees F. They keep the feet nice and warm, which is something that makes winter riding a little more bearable. I bought them 1/2 size big, so that I can fit a heavier sock and, if needed, a heated foot bed. So far, I have yet to need the heated foot bed. The fit and finish of the boots is nice. They come with a tool for the BOA reel, which I recommend using before you use the boot for the first time. They also come with a leather protectant. Highly recommended.

Strengths:    Warm. I have only used light socks, no heavy socks needed. Comfortable. BOA system works great. Good fit and decent rigidity. Very comfortable to walk in, could be an all purpose winter boot. (If only they had a cleat in the front for nordic skis)

Weaknesses:    Heal cup stitching...
They did not last more than a week before the stitches came completely undone on both shoes. A single thread stitch is not sufficient for the stress at this junction, particularly while walking. Lake was reluctant to comply with my demands that they send me a new pair first and then I send the broken ones back. Since the bike is the primary mode of transportaion I was hesitant to go for a whole week with perpetual frostbite. Luckily there are still a few good cobblers left in town and I had them stitched back up for 5 bucks.

They are not quite as waterproof as I had hoped. They work well for slush and light rain; not quite so good in a downpour, but at least my feet stayed warm no matter what.

Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a really warm boot for riding in snow, rain, slush and very cold temperatures this is the real deal. Wait for the heal to fall apart and then take them to your local cobbler and have him/her put them back together with a heavier thread and possibly multiple stitches. Then ride in the most rediculous weather and laugh at the cold.

Strengths:    Warmth! Great fit. Cable lacing. Double velcro closure. Sole has nice Vibram tread. Comes with two toe cleat lengths.

Weaknesses:    Rumor of heal cup thread weakness. Heavy and clunky.

Bottom Line:
This is the one. If it's Winter you need to stay warm and dry. This is the shoe. Plus if you are a wide or Sidi Mega customer, order your usual Sidi size in this wide shoe. Can't explain how pleased I am with this shoe. Nice and toasty and supporting. The Boa lacing is magic, never used it before. Easy perfect adjustment. Also comes with NikWax to treat the Pittards leather. And it's also the best value I think too.
