Carnac Storm Shoes

DESCRIPTION

The uppers are made of bovine leather, Cordura cloth to enable an excellent insulation and Neoprene instep for a support. The inner lining has a Sympatex membrane so the shoe is breathable but also water-resistant.

Equipped with two non-stretchable fibre straps. A third strap closes the neoprene instep to improve the support.

Strength:

They are stiff, warm and have a good fastening system.

Weakness:

None have revealed themselves yet, though the price might scare some folks away.

These are warm boots with all the support and stiffness you would expect from mtb footwear at this price. My first Carnacs have lasted 6 years and are still in great shape, so I am not surprised at that this is a top quality shoe. Carnac makes outstanding shoes.

I purchased this pair from a dot com in France and the first pair shipped were too small even though I ordered a half size up from the european sizing of my current Carnacs. I am not aware of a retailer in the US who sells this particular pair.

If you need a real mtb shoe that will keep your feet warm and are not looking for a particularly narrow shoe, you will be hard pressed to find a better shoe than this. I'll check back in a few years and tell you how this pair has held up.

I have not tried other winter mtb boots.
