Submitted by Neal a Weekend Warrior from Skokie, IL, USA
Date Reviewed: August 27, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:EBay
Strengths:Value for $; Z-fit retention system; Breathability; Sole stiffness
Weaknesses:Shoes run a little narrow; Not readily compatible with platform SPD pedals(646's)
Similar Products Used:Nike Air Amasa
Bike Setup:'99 Trek 8000(stock)
Bottom Line:This review is for AXO Terra 2's. This is my first pair of AXO's and will probably not be my last. I'm impressed with the quality of these shoes. The sole is rubber and it has lugs which help walking when you're off the bike. Toe spikes are optional. The midsole of this shoe is stiff for efficient energy transfer. A great overall shoe!

Submitted by Matt Grothoff a Cross Country Rider from St Louis
Date Reviewed: October 3, 2000
Favorite Trail:Chubb in st louis!!!!!!!!
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $89.00
Purchased At:Touring Gyclist
Strengths:even though only two strap, a very snug, strong fit. recesses cleats made walking cool. not too flashy; the upper held together really well, even after lots and lots of stuff. quite satisfied for it being first shoes with clipless!
Weaknesses:the top strap was too long, and i had to cut it down significantly. kinda annoying. the rubber outer sole was pretty crappy, in that it didn't have the best grip (even though i am out there to bike, not hike) and it got pretty torn up and pulled away from the stiff plastic.
Similar Products Used:just got a pair of Answer Speeders
Bike Setup:99 Trek 7000
Bottom Line:very good shoe overall, although the outer bottom needs better glue and definatly spikes, like in the higher end shoes. comfortabel shoes, even going to class a few time with them wasn't a big deal. came with a lot of stickers to to advertise, not a bad deal. these are good shoes to start out with, i mean, that is what i did. did a couple of races as well.

Submitted by Chumley a Weekend Warrior from Massachusetts
Date Reviewed: September 7, 2000
Favorite Trail:technical anything
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $99.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:decent looking
comfort
ease of entry
Weaknesses:soft sole peels away
Similar Products Used:shimano
Bike Setup:Klein Mantra Pro
Bottom Line:Very comfortable shoe, not too stiff (yes, there is such a thing), not too flexy. Perfect for weekend warriors. After a little less than a year the sole is peeling away from the toe and middle of the shoe. A note: the strap on original pair was a little long (barely catching velcro). I ordered a replacement pair and the strap is now way too short.
