Favorite Trail:anything at gate 19
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $50.00
Strengths:comfort, looks, and they can take a good thrashing.
Weaknesses:not too good for walking back up slippery downhills.
Bottom Line:iv'e had them for 2 1/2 years now,and i can definetly recommend them!! they are just sooo comfortable, and the velco strap helps keep the laces out of the way...although the velco is stating to lose it's grip a bit. but after the rough treatment i've dished out,who cares!

Date Reviewed: September 25, 2000
Favorite Trail:crazzoo
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:Dans Competition
Strengths:good support, stylin, built to last
Weaknesses:grip is there sometimes and sometimes it isnt
Similar Products Used:alpinestars
Bike Setup:Marin Quake 7, yada yada
Bottom Line:Well I ordered a different pair of shoes and these came in the mail. Of course I put em on and just walked around naked in em you know the usual. I was pissed at first but then I rode in them and was suprised to see how far these hybrid shoes have come. The 2000 filter shoe is very rigid. I read some reviews about them have flex, well these don't. Great for riding and okay for walking. If you have never owned this style of shoe it is like walking with a rock under the front of your foot. But these shoes are definitely the sh!t as far as I am concerned. They did there job and suprising after dunking my feet my socks stayed dry. They are made out of quality leather that lasts and can take a beating. AXO knows what they are doing with these shoes and I highly recommend them.

Submitted by Big Dave a Weekend Warrior from Aliso Viejo, CA USA
Date Reviewed: September 5, 2000
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $33.00
Purchased At:Supergo
Strengths:Great Looks, Very Comfy, Tough Construction
Weaknesses:Souls are not very grippy. Laces are way too long. They are pretty flexy, this adds to the comfort factor but also leads to diificulty in disengaging from the pedals (scary) especially in emergencies.
Similar Products Used:NA
Bike Setup:Specialized Big Hit Pro FSR, Jr. T, Hayes Hydros, Shimano 646 pedals etc...
Bottom Line:An Excellent deal! I got mine on sale for $33.00 at supergo in Escondido. For the most part, I am completely satisfied with them. My only real Complaint is the lateral flex, and that is just a personal preference. If you don't mind that, I highly recommend these shoes. Especially if you can get them for $33!!!

Favorite Trail:Aww... Do I have to pick one?
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Look pretty kewl
Good price
Stong
Nice fit
Weaknesses:Soles can be a little slippery (not much grip)
Laces are too long (get another set)
Similar Products Used:A really old pair of generic shimano spd shoes that a mate
used to let me use before I got'em (the Filters are my first spd shoe)
Bike Setup:Avanti Barracuda Comp
Bottom Line:Good Shoe. Perfect for the weekend warrior.
Never given me any probs at all...
The soles can get a little slippy sometimes (due to their distinct lack of tread)... but otherwise.. good shoes, and really tough.

Submitted by Micki Hills a Weekend Warrior from Seattle
Date Reviewed: December 14, 1999
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Good looking, warm, durable
Weaknesses:
Smooth sole can be slippery
Similar Products Used:
Specialized Rockhopper
Sidi Toscany
Bike Setup:
Schwinn Mesa GSX
Bottom Line:I purchased these a 1 1/2 sizes larger for winter riding and I've been pleased. They are very comfortable, cool looking, warm, and shed water pretty well. No sole trimming was neccessary to install Time Atac cleats. Thermastat line and sealskin oversock produce an excellent fit, but I suspect without these layers, some may find them loose fitting.

Submitted by Mikko Mellin a Weekend Warrior from Finland
Date Reviewed: August 8, 1999
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Great looking, just like any great sneaker out there.
Weaknesses:
Maybe doesn`t look good after a while...
Similar Products Used:
Just sneakers, because this is my first attempt to SPD world!
Bike Setup:
Not relative...
Bottom Line:Great looking pair of shoes,i just had to wate two weeks to get these from my local bike shop.Well anyway, somewhat affordable price if you compare to some plastic race shoes, these do offer pretty good protection to ankle because these have tall heel part. Also i had none problems adjustin and installing the cleats, and i think that these are pretty wide shoes,if you have duck flat legs, these could fit a lot better than some race only shoes!Five stars for Axo,for making a shoe that doesn`t look like 80`s dance shoe, that even fits allmost as great as my ordinery sneakers! And by the way,i use these with Shimano 636 pedals like the man below me,if any one is interested...

Date Reviewed: February 18, 1999
Bottom Line:

About a month ago I decided I wanted to buy a pair of Shimano PD-636 clipless pedal (w/ platform), and in doing so I also picked out a pair of Axo Filters. These shoes are very comfortable and don't look half bad either! I haven't got a single complaint about these shoes at all personally, though if you're a racer, these shoes may be a little too loose for your liking (it's just personal taste really).
Admittedly these are the first pair of MTB shoes I've had, so I'm not an expert by any stretch but I do highly recommend these shoes!
