Strengths: Fit, weight, protection, looks, comfort, adjustabilityWeaknesses: Uhhh......Bottom Line: UVEX Boss Race Helmet:
Best helmet I have owned. The micro-adjustable headband cinches down perfectly on my BIG MELON with a smooth operating dial in the back. Easy to adjust with gloves on. Once cinched down, the helmet does not move on my head, even with a HID light strapped to it. The shell lays nicely on the noggin', making it unneccessary to overtighted the ratchet dial, the helmet just stays in place with medium to light tension on the headband. One feature I have not seen on any other helmet is the micro-adjustable chin strap. It too ratchets, with a sliding motion, much like a bike shoe ratchet strap. Very nice. Although it is advertised as a road helmet, it definitely provides more coverage. The webbing on the front of the helmet is effective and non-obtrusive to keep bugs out. Finally, the thing is LIGHT at about 220 grams. While most don't think of UVEX over the bigger brands of helmets, their product is far superior to any other I have donned, like it's not even on my head.
For everything other than Freeride and DH, this one is excellent...roadies included. Perfect XC race helmet.
