Strengths:    Best fitting, most comfortable and coolest helmet I've ever tried. Stays put on your melon.

Weaknesses:    Poor color choice in first year of production (bo-o-oring!). First year cost was steep.

Bottom Line:
If you can afford it, this is THE helmet to get. It doesn't have as much padding as some other helmets. I thought this would be a disadvantage but it fits my head so well that the extra padding is unnecessary! (Maybe it won't fit your head as well, though.) It is exceedingly comfortable and does not move around on your head during a ride.
This helmet is at the top of the price curve but the extra design effort by Specialized definitely shows. Well worth the $$$.
I found it significantly more comfortable than a host of other (expensive) helmets out there. If comfort, coolness and fit are important to you, this is the brain bucket for you.

Strengths:    Light, cool, good retention system, white +red racing stripes

Weaknesses:    Visor is kinda dumb

Bottom Line:
Sweet. Cooler than my old Cobra, in temp and style terms. It fits better than the Bells, Giros and Brikos I've tried. (Roundish, large head)
The full shell is good, prevents UV damage to the foam and helps prevent small dings from everyday storage/car trips. The only downside is the visor...it's functional, but barely. I've never liked them on XC helmets, though, so take that with a grain of salt.

Strengths:    light weight, aerated, crash policy

Weaknesses:    none

Bottom Line:
this is a great helmet that is backed up by a great replacement policy. it is light, fits great, has an excellent retention system (easier to use and more secure than giros), and has more frontal air collection than ay helmet i have seen. it is lighter than the weight they report in the helmet (290 actual with visor versus 320 reported, giros are much heavier than they report - 350 g actual with visor). i wrecked after only having this helmet 2 weeks. for $20, specialized replaced the helmet with the same helmet, no questions asked, i didn't even need to show the receipt. that's a solid policy intended to keep people in sound helmets. specialized obviously doesn't profit by this policy in contrast to giro whose replacement policy actually nets them a higher profit margin than their standard sales do.

this is a great helmet at a reasonable price backed up by great customer service.
