Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $120.00
Purchased At:HaPe Sport
Strengths:Light, durable, good vent
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:Bell Cyclone
Bottom Line:Great, two times saved my life by really wild crash. Ones was on crash replacement for 50% cost. It was after night crash with iron crossbar in forest :-)

Submitted by Dale Buxton a Cross Country Rider from Bradford
Date Reviewed: April 22, 2004
Favorite Trail:Anywhere bumpy!
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:Chain Reaction Cycles
Strengths:Ventilation, weight, looks, retention system.
Weaknesses:Big fat humungous zero
Similar Products Used:Specialized King Cobra (what was i thinking-cost twice as much)
Bike Setup:Cannondale F800 with full XTR groupset,oh, and a water bottle
Bottom Line:This skidlid looks the part, extremely cheap in comparison to other helmets of this quality. You can tell the R&D and thought thats gone into it, 4 point connection for the visor, 30 vents (gets a bit chilly in the uk though), the retention system is the best aspect, theres a strap going all the way round the inside of the helmet that tightens as you push the clips tighter, keeping the helmet securely fitted to your bonce. Its also one of the lightest helmets on the market (yep, anorak me weighed a few). Seriously, don't even think twice, just size it and hand over your hard-earned.

Submitted by Guy a Weekend Warrior from Darwin, NT
Date Reviewed: March 17, 2003
Favorite Trail:Lost City
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Bike Addiction, NSW
Strengths:Excellent ventilation, proven skull-saver, looks cooler than competitors due to lower, flatter top profile. Great visor sits at just the right level above the eyes.
Weaknesses:I take a large MET Parrabellum, but a medium in most other helmets. Maybe I have a strange egg, but try it on before you buy!
Similar Products Used:Earlier model MET helmets
Bike Setup:Giant XTC NRS 2001, PsyloXC 2002 fork, DX platform pedals, 2.3" Continental Vertical protec tyres.
Bottom Line:I tested this helmet after getting a bit too much air off a jump on a downhill section. Landed head-first on my MET Parrabellum. Xrays confirm no fractures to skull or spine(although plenty of bruising elsewhere). Helmet is still intact although a bit dented. Visor also intact. Therefore I can vouch for this helmet's effectiveness in its primary role (saving your skull). It is also the best ventilated MTB helmet on the market, which is the main reason I bought it (I ride in HOT tropical conditions where brain temp is a crucial factor). If you need a cooler head, get one of these. Design of forhead padding also reduces the amount of sweat that gets in your eyes. Adjustable fit system ensures a firm, comfortable, no-wobble fit.

Date Reviewed: October 13, 2002
Favorite Trail:Merri Creek
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $100.00
Purchased At:CycleWorks, Box Hill
Strengths:Good looks, light weight, good fit.
Weaknesses:Foam inserts fall apart. Expensive.
Similar Products Used:Giro
Bike Setup:GT LTS1 with full XTR upgrade
Bottom Line:This helmet is awesome, if a little expensive. The only problem encountered was with the padded foam inserts that stick to the velcro. If you sweat a bit, these will disintergrate within 6 months.

Submitted by Alex Y a Cross Country Rider from Australia
Date Reviewed: October 16, 2001
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $85.00
Strengths:VERY Breezy
Looks awesome - helmets look dorky, but this one makes you want to wear it. Great Colours
Perfect Fit
Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:Tested the Stradivarius (sweet!)
Bike Setup:What's the relevance?
Bottom Line:I love this helmet. Looks awesome, and feels so breezy and fits so well that it makes you WANT to wear it.

I've been road riding for over 10 years, and have never worn a helmet before. The helmets I've tried were clunky and hot and just plain irritating. The MET Parabellum however, is just sweet - plain and simple.

I'd get a Stradivarius if it had a visor - the only way that you can get a better helmet than a Parabellum is to get another MET - the Stradivarius, just too bad it doesn't have a visor.

I give it a perfect score, coz it made me a believer.

Submitted by Sean a Cross Country Rider from Nottinghamshire, UK
Date Reviewed: October 5, 2001
Favorite Trail:You wouldn't know it...
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:Halfords
Strengths:1. Good looks
2. Feels strong and secure
3. Not too heavy
4. Decent ventilation
5. Price (I got it for £39.99 - I think they priced it incorrectly)
6. Take the visor off and I can use it with my road bike
Weaknesses:1. Has quite a large profile (looks wide from the front)
2. Chin strap seems to re-adjust itself betfore every ride (unless it's my girlfriend messing with it for a laugh)
Similar Products Used:MET Scudo, Bell something-or-other
Bike Setup:Coyote HT4 frame, full XT group (with Flightdeck computer), Mavic X517 (citrus) rims, Panaracer Fire XC, Club Roost stem/bar, TekTro boosters, Judy XC fork......
Bottom Line:Nice functional helmet (esspecially at the price I paid). As I said above, can be used on the road as well (saving me some serious money as I do both MTBing and road-riding).

Ventilation is much better than the Scudo etc (but then again what do you expect for the extra money).

The MET retention system is good and easy/quick to use/adjust.

Strong-feeling in-moulded shell.

Weaknesses:The pads are very creative, I would hate to track down some new ones.

Submitted by Paul D a Weekend Warrior from Perth, Australia
Date Reviewed: December 29, 2000
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $75.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Quality finish with the exterior plastic moulded to the shell. V Good ventillation. Good fit with a really nice adjustment system and comfy straps
Weaknesses:Price. I paid $150.00 Aussie (But you get what you pay for) Not many spare pads with the helmet
Similar Products Used:Bell Image pro and a couple of other Bell Helmets
Bike Setup:98 Ali Hardtail with XT Stuff
Bottom Line:I think that MET did a big overhaul on this helmet for 2000. I like this Helmet. As soon as I put it on it felt like a good fit and I didn't have to play around with it much. It has a great adjustment system that is easy to alter. There is a band that goes all the way around your head that is tightned by the rear adjustment straps. It pretty much guarantees a good fit (Unless you have a cone head) The straps are nice a well. All in all a much better helmet than my 98 Bell Image Pro (Replaced on age and stench grounds). Kudos to Bell though as one of their helmets saved me from being a vegetable. Someone has put a lot of thought into this MET helmet and it shows.

Favorite Trail:anywhere but here
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $75.00
Purchased At:Parker International
Strengths:Ventilation, Light weight, looks great, fits my small head (not clunky), very good protection (reputed)
Weaknesses:Not real accomodating of pony tails (yeah, I'm a guy.) I tie mine low and it's fine. Pads separated within 2 months (still in place, just without the outer cover.
Similar Products Used:Giro Torrero (inexpensive and bulky), Limar 107, Vetta (hardshell, 1980's)
Bike Setup:MTN: Trek 7000 with misc bits
ROAD: Tommasini Tecno with Campy Record 10-speed (yeah, baby, yeah!)
Bottom Line:I love this helmet! I have tried on many helmets and this one really suits my small (less than 7) head. I think the smallest helmet they make is called a "medium", but it's small, for sure. This sucker is light and cool (temp and looks). Several of my helmetless cycling buddies have told me that this helmet has convinced them to consider helmets again, because it's just so cool looking. I was torn between this and the Limar F107, but this one won out. I don't even feel like I'm wearing it!

Five turds for value, cuz its a steal
Five turds for overall cuz its among the best out there.

Strengths:Great ventilation, Good looks, Excellent fit
Weaknesses:Cold in the winter months
Similar Products Used:Giro Supermoto, Specialized King Cobra
Bike Setup:Trek Y-50
Bottom Line:This is a great helmet if you race or do a lot of summer riding as it keeps your head way cool, and the visor keeps the sun out of your eyes, the only thing I would recommend is that if you use this when it gets a bit colder make sure you wear a neoprene cap underneath it or else you'll get "Brain Freeze".
