Giro Semi MX Helmet

4/5 (3 Reviews)
MSRP : $69.99

Product Description

Giro's low-profile helmet built for progressive riders who want a little extra coverage for riding and airing out trails, ramps, rails, benches and even curbs. It started with a nod to skate style, but Giro pushed those roots into the future with In-mold to cut weight, then added some real-world ventilation for long afternoon sessions. The Semi MX takes it one step further with the addition of a removable moto-style visor.

Strengths:    Very good overall coverage, specially on the back, good visor witch doesn't move an inch on rough downhill tracks, reasonabel thin appearance meaning not looking like a flowerpott

Weaknesses:    Although northern norway can be pretty cold, this helmet can be too warm.not satisfied with the inline padding,it is good placed but the outside textile looses very easy from the foam padding.I do have some difficulty's withe the straps and specially the clips right under the ears, those can be adjusted but it seems as if i have to adjust them every ride due to the fact that they loosen way to easy each time you put the helmet on.

Bottom Line:
A very good helmet if you desire more protection and want a coollooking and very helpfull visor against branches and sun

Strengths:    Well ventilated(for a skate type helmet), looks sweet

Weaknesses:    Little warm on the climbs, only available in all black(hot) and sparkly grey with lame red flames.

Bottom Line:
This helmet does its job. I went off an 8 foot drop and landed to flat on my head and back of my neck. Had sore upper body for weeks, but the helmet took the brunt of the impact. It gets hot here in so cal and this helmet ventilates pretty well. Not as hot as a skate helmet but not full on ventilation like a regular MTB helmet. Thank god for the Semi-cool lookin Semi. Get the one with the visor! It only costs $40 so you can't go wrong.

Someone remind me again why Giro "stopped" making the Semi-MX helmet and...

And is still making the "G10MX" hemlet for snow? And charging $125 for it? Audio helmet? Cripes! I just want someone to make a good XC/AM lid that actually has a FUNCTIONAL visor on it! Something that (at least on my trails out here in PA) can deflect branches and green briars when I have to ... Read More »

No more Giro Semi MX???

I got lost a little... I understand it was discontinued back in 2005, but somehow I had the idea it was still being sold in 2006. I visited their site today and it's definitively out of production for 2007?? They must be banging their heads against a wall now Fox, TLD and THE have a helmet in ... Read More »

Giro Semi-MX

I'm looking for one and it looks as though Giro has discontinued it. Anyone know of a retailer that still has them in stock, size X-large, preferably black or flat black in color? Thanks..Read More »
