Date Reviewed: September 5, 2008
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $29.00
Purchased At:Sun, Ski & Sports
Strengths:Comfortable fit, decent looks, excellent protections.
Weaknesses:Mushroom look.
Similar Products Used:Cheapo helmets
Bike Setup:Specialized Rockhopper '08.
Bottom Line:I bought this helmet for the fit and the price. Two weeks after I bought it, I took a flip over the handle bars of my mountain bike, and landed full force on the top of my head. Although my neck suffered a bit from the compression, the helmet did a great job of protecting my skull.
Since it is recommended to replace the helmet after a significant crash, I purchased the same model again.
The only drawback is the "mushroom" look, due to its width. However, in this price class you'll be hard pressed to find a better looking helmet.

Strengths:Very reasonably priced, tough helmet (took a hard spill and it held up like a champ), very comfortable.

Favorite Trail:Marshall Canyon
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:Jenson USA
Strengths:Fairly light, comfortable, cool in the summer and quite inexpensive. Acu Dial adjustment is very easy to use.
Weaknesses:It's ugly.
Similar Products Used:Giro Semi MX(?) - don't even think about wearing this in the summer sun!
Bike Setup:Specialized FSRxc
Bottom Line:As long as a helmet is comfortable and meets all the safety standards, it's perfectly usable, which is why I bought the Indicator. The price was so low that I bought two other ones for my sons also! The only real concern is that it's a "universal" fit, so it's big enough to fit large heads. Smaller heads may find it too loose, even with the Acu Dial. I wear a Halo headband underneath, so it's fairly snug. Without it, the helmet would definitely move around a bit.

I've been fortunate enough to NOT crash and really test the helmet's protection. However, I've knock it several times from the side on low tree branches, side of a hill, etc. It has done its job. After two full years of abuse in the So. Cal. sun and knocks and scrapes, I'm retiring it this month and getting a much better looking, although more expensive helmet.

Favorite Trail:DH at Sunrise
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $27.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Cheap, adjustability, Doesn't bounce around
Weaknesses:Not best paint job
can be a little warm in the summer (It's Arizona, what do you expect)
Similar Products Used:Specialized somethin or other
Bike Setup:Mongoose Canaan Elite
and old style Schwinn set up for DH and Freeride
Bottom Line:It's made mostly for beginning riders, so the more experienced riders might want something a little more "High End"
I still use it and lend it out when needed
I'd get it again. It's cheap and protects my noggin. Don't be afraid to buy it. Not the best but not the worst
