Strengths:    Matches my arm warmers -- gel pads are adequate.

Weaknesses:    They quickly smell like arse, and it's nearly impossible to wash the smell out. Also, they are too hot for So Cal summers.

Bottom Line:
I thought that these would be comfortable for long road rides, and they are, if it's not over 75F. But they smell really bad. Your hands will smell even after you remove the gloves. I don't have this problem with other gloves. I feel like they skimped on quality leather, and since I cannot wear them, I have to give it the lowest rating.

Strengths:    Nice to look at when new.

Weaknesses:    Badly made, not fit for purpose. Falls apart.

Bottom Line:
I used these gloves for about 18months and circa 2000km. The so called gel (actually more like grey foam) is held in place by patches glued over the strips in the palm. 3 patches per glove. These came off after a short time. So I had to glue them back together again. I would advise anyone to avoid this glove and any other held together by glue rather than stitching. I have a pair of specialised blob gloves which are still going strong after 8 years, including use for 4 months on crutches. The BG Gel glove is absolutely rubbish and should be avoided.

Strengths:    Great fit, comfortable, terry cloth is great to wipe away sweat. Great padding and grip.

Weaknesses:    Falls apart like wet toilet paper. The padding is not gel, more like closed-cell foam.

Bottom Line:
These gloves are the most comfortable I've ridden with and have the best fit too. Good vibration and bump absorption and the terry does wonders to keep sweat from your eyes. I road the Bicycle Tour Colorado with these and several XC races and never thought about my hands...that's how you know soemthing is working. That's about all the positives.

I am on my 3rd pair (in 3 months), which is probably the last because the crappy LBS is getting tired of me coming in saying these things fall apart like wet toilet paper. The seams on the inside are glued together, and they disentegrate after light use, exposing the padding, which falls out and your once-padded glove is now a mangled piece of leather. The stitching does the same, and seems to give out earlier than the leather, which gives a little warning that the rest of the glove is soon to turn to crap.

Then, I was pissed off about the false advertising that said "gel" but...well...replace "gel" with "foam" and you get the idea. The padding is some kind of a close-celled foam that you can probably find in the window section at Home Depot. Looks like Specialized slapped the word "gel" on to boost the price. That's what pissed me off the most about these. The foam does the trick (very well until it falls out in your back seat), but don't mislead the consumer!

Buy these if your LBS doesn't mind taking them back every month or so on an exchange, or at REI where you can exchange everything until eternity with nobody looking at you like "why do you keep coming back over and over."

Value: 1 flaming turd for the "why pay $30 for something that will last maybe until the end of next week" factor.

Overall: 5 for comfort, 1 for being more fragile than my brother's self-esteem.

Strengths:    Great Material
gel padding
wick sweat well
terry cloth strip on thumb to wipe sweat

Weaknesses:    none.

Bottom Line:
I needed great gloves to absorb some shock, since I am 35, and try to ride like an 18 year old. My shop recommended these, and I am glad they did. They have gel inserts in the palm, and the outside of the glove. They have a terry cloth strip to wipe away your sweat, and the wick away sweat well, so your hands stay grippy. I love these gloves. Price was ok too for a glove of this quality.
