Date Reviewed: September 24, 2002
Favorite Trail:Rijk van Nijmegen
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:Kersten Wielersport
Strengths:Looks good, fit`s like a glove, does not bunch up on the inside of your hands when in cycling position.
Weaknesses:Very sweaty, bad ventilation, the rubber reinforcements on the inside of the palm let go loose afer a few weeks, stitching not very durable. Not as good as Specialized`s products usually are.
Similar Products Used:Several Roekl`s, Y2K Specialized Body Geometry Team XC Long,
BioRacer Full Finger summer gloves
Bike Setup:Mountainbike as well as roadbike
Bottom Line:I bought these in order to replace a pair of almost worn out BG Team XC Long gloves. The 2002 S-Works Gloves were much more sweaty than the BG Team XC gloves that they were supposed te replace. My Team XC Long gloves (you can still buy them) lasted more than two years, although I had to repair them a few times in those two years because of bad stitching and ripping fabric, but I can still use them. The S-Works feel fine when you try them on the first time, but are not as nice to use than the gloves they are supposed to supersede. After a few weeks, the rubber reinforcements on the palm started to come off, at several spots the stitching started to tear apart. The ripping of the stitches may stem from the fact that these gloves are a tight fit, which feels good when you try them on, but might put too much strain on the stitching. Size L has the right length for my fingers, size XL is way too long. Basically the same goes for the BG Team XC Long model, but I think these are slightly more elastic. Maybe Specialized should make `m slightly wider.
But to my satisfaction: after telling Kersten Wielersport about my experiences, they contacted Specialized about it, and Specialized promised to replace them. I hope they will replace them with a new pair of BG Team XC`s!

Strengths:good ventalation for a full finger glove . soft material up side of thumb for nose wiping . grippy underside patches . egronomics are nice .
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:a bunch
Bike Setup:giant warp ds3
Bottom Line:comfortable w/ all the strengths listed above . ive only had them about 3 months , but what a messy 3 months . theyve been saturated with water and mud 20 times+ , but no problemo just rinse em down then ring em out and put in the window to dry . with all this washing / drying and a few unplaned hand plants they show no sign of deterioration . good show i say .... oh they look badass too .
