This full fingered glove is performance oriented and it's ergonomically designed to fit around the grip. The palm is lightly padded with a dual layer of clarino fabric to provide a powerful hand to handlebar contact.

Good fit and finish. Excellent grip on handlebars and brake levers. Good padding on knuckles, but definitely not too bulky. Breathable, but not so breathable that they fall apart right away. 2009 model (different from picture above as of Oct. 09) comes in several sweet colors.
Weaknesses:
My hands are somewhere INBETWEEN a large and XL. I buy larges and hope they stretch without ripping, because XL's are just too big.

The glove ripped at the seam at the base of my thumb the first time I put it on. I have an older pair of these gloves which is why I purchased these. Also, they removed the snot wipe and it's only got a small bit of felt on the knuckle of the thumb for wiping your brow, terrible design changes.

Bottom Line:
I've used these for a year now and they are still in great shape. Others have had problems with the stitching coming apart, but I have not seen that with Oury grips. Wash them every couple weeks and they are good to go.
When I first got the gloves, the thumbs were too tight, causing some numbness. I let them break in and mold a bit and now they fit ummm...like a glove. Oh yeah they get warm, but that is generally the drawback of a durable full-fingered glove.
Bottom line is I've crashed numerous times on logs and rocks and such, gouging up legs and arms, but my hands haven't caught a scratch.

This is a review for the 2007 glove. In less than 2months the stitching has worn away to nothingness and the gloves are falling apart at the middle of the palm next to the evo padding. It's such a pity as I love the feel and fit of this glove - it's the best I've tried. I reckon it's a design problem. All of my old gloves show wear at the same part of the palm, but none have stitching running across this area excluding the sidewinder. I reckon my grippy ODI grips may be a factor in wear and another reviewer has highlighted this too.
Very disappointing. I can't afford to swap out gloves every 2months!

They were on sale. The reinforced palm might be good, that's actually where I have destroyed Sidewinders in the past.
Weaknesses:
What happened? These are 2005 models and the plastic knuckle ribs have almost all fallen off, they were glued on and not very well. The palm is almost worn through and the padding on the top is kinda sparse. Not sure if it would hold up, but I haven't had a big wreck in a while, so I have no idea. I have had a few sidewinders and these are the worst. Actually, my 99 pair lasted the longest...
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
Not really relevant. A short travel DH/FR bike.
Bottom Line:
Disappointment.
I didn't really ride much in the year I owned these, I was kinda burnt out by injury and stress (I'm very busy). Anyway, I ruined a pair of other Sidewinders in a DJ accident (palms gone). So these were on sale (the color was kinda weak: black/red). They suck, I mean I can't believe they are fox gloves. The rubber mesh on the outside of the lower palm might actually prevent the kind of wear I have incurred in the past, but the rest is actively falling apart. I maybe have 60 hours in them and if I see a better glove on sale, they are going to be used for yard work.
They aren't horrible, I have learned that ODI Ruffian grips kind of file away at palms... a few decent drops and you can feel the palm leather wearing away.

I ordered these in Nov. 2003 online after a night time crash when I chewed up the left Troy Lee Design glove as my left arm was under me as I was sliding on asphalt. Bottom Line: Excellent Fox gloves, last 20% of velcro no-longer grips and with more day time rides in 2005 then in 2004 the cloth on both thumbs have discoloured from black to brown.

Bottom line is that this newest version 2004+ glove (made in China) is a horrible version of it's earlier model. The cool rubber white stripes on the back of the hand are peeling off on the 1st ride, the fabric is cheaper and wears out very fast, but my worst issue is that the Velcro on the straps is only glued onto the strap unlike previous years where it was also stiched. Because of this glued only velcro it peels right of the strap after 1 washing.
If you like the previous sidewinder gloves, these are nothing like those. I even went and bought another pair to see if maybe it was just the pair I bought but unfortunately no dice. I am going back to AXO or something else.....

These are great gloves. Not only do they look awesome, they are very functional. The rubber strips on the index and middle fingers provide extra grip when breaking and shifting. My only complaint however is the lack of padding between the top of the rubber panel on the back of the glove and the backs of my knuckles. After wearing the gloves for an extened period of time, an indentation appears on the back of my hand from it digging in. Otherwise, these are excellent gloves. I gave them four chilis only because I think comfort is the most important aspect of a glove and these aren't the most comfortable I've ever worn. Everything else about them is great.

They are Fox - they're not the cheapest but they've been making gear for eons and it shows. I couldn't believe how well this glove stood up to motocrossing. My friends got sick of hearing about how long the gloves were lasting. Today's new makers would think it is a bad thing for gloves to last a long time. Bottom Line:
A great glove for overall mountain bike use (cross country and adventure racing). It's light, comfortable and looks good. I'd opt for a more protective glove for serious freeride, hucking or downhill rides though. While this does provide ok protection, the padding in the back of the glove is minimal although sufficient for a not too nasty get-off. Feel is very good and grip is excellent. I used to own the 2002 version of these gloves, before a friend "borrowed" them and they perfomed well and held up great! The 2003 model however is not so spectacular. The glove seems to fit a bit more snugly than last years, which is fine with me, also they made it look a bit flashier. The extra grippy pads on the fingertips of the index and middle fingers of last year's model was replaced with thin grip strips. The very first time that I wore these new gloves however, the material on the fingertips began to fray, and the griper on my index finger came unglued and tore off!! This was very unsatisfactory since I neither took a fall during the ride or pushed off any trees or rocks with my hands! Worse yet, when I called fox to see if I'd just gotten a defective pair with bad glue or something, I was told that they're all gonna hold up like that!!!! My advice, if u can find the 2002 model in your size still, buy that instead!

Purchased At:
Seo Cycle, LalaPort Tokyo Bay shopping mall, Minami-Funabashi, Chiba, Japan
Strengths:
Blood washes right out of them.
Neoprene is definitely a great material to use in cycling gloves, as long as they're vented with lycra between the fingers, as these are.
The rubber stitched onto the backside of the hand is good protection from all sorts of stuff.
The neoprene doesn't stretch out, which is a problem I had with my old FOX gloves--though they were mighty comfy--just breaks in nicely.
Neoprene, again, is good wind protection and also nice in a rain storm.
The palms on these things are much better than previous FOX gloves I've used--I have something like four pairs of FOX gloves.
Fit and durability of things like the velcro are excellent.
After heavy use, they don't have any loose threads or start fitting sloppily.
Weaknesses:
The rubber thingies on the fingers can get caught on the inside, hollowed-out part of the brake levers.
Similar Products Used:
Lots of FOX gloves. I also have one pair of Specialized, Body Geometry gloves.
Bike Setup:
An old TREK and a young TREK. I don't feel like typing this stuff out for a glove review--though I will say I'm using a Bontrager Select bar and Ergo Grips on the young bike.
Bottom Line:
Everything I buy from FOX is great, comes in second only to Pearl Izumi by a very slim margin except in ruggedness and durability where FOX is consistently No. 1. You never waste your money buying a FOX product in my book.
On previous model years of FOX gloves, a lot of people complained about the palms being, while extremely comfortable, not padded well enough. These gloves however are just right. FOX is right to stick with the minimum possible amount of padding--just great for "feeling the trail"--but they weren't gloves you'd want to wear on epic rides before. These new palms are similar in design to the Body Geometry design by Specialized, but the workmanship is a lot better and Specialized puts way too much padding on their gloves, causing hand cramps I've never experienced with other gloves or even heard of and putting extra stress on the palm side of the knuckles.
The Specialized gloves take a LOT of breaking in before they really perform as advertised, but the FOX gloves are nice right off the display rack and only get better with age--like a deluxe pair of leather work gloves a cowboy might use.
Unlike previous models of the FOX gloves, you don't need to buy these tight because they don't stretch out as much. They stretch out a little, but just enough in all the right places to make them fit perfectly.

Bottom Line:
I found trying to overlap the velcro for full contact would make my hands go cold. Even though the material would stretch that far ok it was just too tight, so leaving only about 1/3 overlapped works fine. Longer velcro would be the cure!
Great gloves but you have to pay for it. The strengths far outweigh the weakness. Go get them!

Strengths:
The two strongest aspects about the Sidewinder are its durability and protection. Breathability is good for a full finger glove and cushion is also good.
Weaknesses:
The neoprene along the knuckes can be damaged after a few direct hits.
Bike Setup:
Cannondale Caad 5 hardtail, with the Fatty Ultra.
Bottom Line:
The Sidewinder is the choice for full finger gloves. I have crashed and clipped many trees, many times and suffered many a scrape, but my hands always stay beautiful. They are expensive, but you only need to buy one pair for the next 10 years. I purchased mine in 1997, and they are still holding up and keeping my hands comfortable and safe. The plastic armor on the fingers has lost some of its color after multiple crashes, but it is not broken or damaged. Some changes have taken place in the last 6 years, but the essential design remains the same. I would tell any one to buy these gloves, hands down worth your money.

I was lucky enough to grab these at 14 bucks. I went back online to get my buddy a pair that same day, and they changed the price to $38. I really like these gloves on cold days. I used them once on a hot day , and they were sopping wet after an hour. I found that with the fingertips wet they get real slippery on levers, grip shift and grips. Some rides I'll wear my AXO Ragis just for the climb, and I will take these with me to wear on long downhills only. This way they will be nice and dry. This is a killer glove, and I have learned to live with the tips. Pricy? Yes but well built. My old swinders are still going strong, but I coulnt pass up such a deal. TIP, find yourself a little mesh gement bag that zips closed. Once every other week or so I put all my gloves(with velcro fastend), and helmet pads in the mesh, wash but only hang dry. This will extend the life of your gloves. Plus I have never lost a sigle helmet pad.

Similar Products Used:

Bottom Line:
Picked these up for a great price from a local LBS (I'm thinking they messed up and stuck them in the Clearance bin since they were the only pair). They fit my hands really well, not too loose or tight, so they don't snag or bunch up when I'm holding on for dear life. It's constructed pretty well and the stitching has held up nicely. The palm/finger material proves to be quite grippy and the rubberized middle/fore fingers is a nice touch that's quite functional. It has padding in the right places especially in the palm area where raspberries usually occur in a crash. About the only fallback is it lack of breathability but I'd take more protection over sweaty hands anyday. Also, the terry cloth material starts to breakdown when you use them alot. They're very flashy motocross inspired gloves and I bet they'd work just as well on a dirtbike. Fox has outdone themselves on this one.

Excellent value for the price. These gloves are "like new" after dozens of rides and about three machine washings. There is not a single stitch coming apart on these gloves. The only caution is on sizing...I normally take a medium glove but with these a large fit the best. They will stretch slightly as you are riding but return to normal when they dry out. Bottom Line:
These gloves, tried by both myself and another trials-riding buddy, are simply awful. My hands actually had their calluses ripped off by the shearing action that these gloves just let slip by. The Axo Cabrias that I bought two days later, after enduring painful hands, are much better, and are a couple of bucks cheaper to boot. Stay away from these gloves if you are hard on your hands. Weaknesses:
Warm? But I'm in Alaska, so what do I care?
Similar Products Used:
AXO Padlock 8, Louis Garnieu something or others, cheap P.I. fingerless gloves.
These are the bomb. I ride so much better knowing that a branch jutting out on the trail won't cut my hands to ribbons (Psychosomatic? Probably, but hey, every little bit helps). They can get a little warm, even here, but it's a trade-off. And they don't fall apart where the thumb and forefinger meet due to Grip Shift, unlike other gloves I've tried. I'm still wearing them at Moab in September. And the new ones are even better than last years. The padding on the back has been updated and there is now a tacky rubber-like compound on the first two finger tips for better control of the brake levers. Get these gloves, unless you ride in Death Valley or somewhere like that, in which case these gloves might be a little too warm. Five great big flaming poops.

Incredible fitting gloves, super comfortable gloves, good compromise between fit and padding.BUT.......The Thermaweld palms which are super comfy are only stitched to the Lycra Mid-Finger with single stiching. I had an index finger go on me within 2 days of riding. This is not the best glove for singletrack as the lycra also has tendency to snag on objects. If Fox made this a more dsurable glove it would be the ultimate glove.Great glove, but won't last for long if you like the rough stuff. 2 chilies. I didn't have the velcro strap rip off like other have reported. (yet) My local LBS here (Spokes) let me exchange to a Troy Lee Designs SE no questions asked (kudos), we'll see how those work out.

After washing out the front tire in a bad crash I got a scar on my hand, that was the end of that! The bike shop never tightened the ahead-set during the recent tune-up which resulted in a loose steerer tube (this caused the washout). The bike shop gave me these for free to stop me from making their mistake known to the public. I wouldn't buy these for the $40 price tag but they're really nice.

Needed a full fingered set of gloves for the colder months (my Fox ShortHorns weren't cutting it) So I bought a pair of these SideWinders. No problems so far. they fit me nicely and keep my hands warm in my daily commute. On the trails I haven't had the opportunity (?) to crash while wearing em yet. The knuckle guards do a good job deflecting twigs and branches that overhang the trail at bar level tho. I dunno how one manages to rip the velcro tab off of these things. I guess some folks DO unplug electrical equipment by pulling at the cord instead of the plug. Oh well, I remove my gloves by grasping the tab tip itself. Gotta be careful , hehe these are 40 dollar gloves :oP
