Date Reviewed: November 9, 2006
Favorite Trail:Walnut Creek
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $13.00
Purchased At:Academy Sports
Strengths:Low price, Works well
Weaknesses:Not a full glove
Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:Haro R3
Bottom Line:This is an inexpensive product that holds up. This is my second pair and when I wear these out, I am sure I will buy another pair. I also like the padding in the palm.

Some others have had issues with the stitching and the dye transferring to their hands. I have had none of these issues.

Date Reviewed: December 21, 2005
Favorite Trail:Pt. Sublime Trail
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:Sports Authority
Strengths:Cheap. Fit nicely.
Weaknesses:Tend to bunch up and leave dye on your hands.
Similar Products Used:Novarra riding gloves.
Bike Setup:Mostly stock Yeti Koko
Bottom Line:These gloves start out feeling really nice but about 20 min. into your ride the gel pads in the pads become more of a liability than a help when the pads bunch up and start to chafe. These are better than nothing but there are better gloves out there.

Favorite Trail:Cabo Rojo
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $12.00
Purchased At:Kmart
Strengths:These gloves are great. I bought them thinking on replacing them soon, but I have not, no need!
Weaknesses:They get smelly after two rides, but this is quikly solved by washing them with hair shampoo at your after ride shower. XL feels a little tight on big hands like mine.
Bike Setup:Mongoose EFX, 21 speed SRAM full suspension, Planetbike tri Led light, CatEye Micro wireless, ZOOM stem riser.
Bottom Line:These gloves deliver.

Price Paid: $15.00
Purchased At:Walmart
Strengths:Price, lots of terry

Look elsewhere.

Submitted by JP a Weekend Warrior from Finland
Date Reviewed: July 26, 2003
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $20.00
Strengths:Comfortable gloves with plenty of protection. Good quality. Coolness in heat, warmth in chilly conditions.
Weaknesses:Straps may get detached if using shifters requiring to twist your wrists. Slightly slippy feeling in wet conditions. Hard to unwear after some some serious sweating (stickier than most gloves). Nothing too bad.
Similar Products Used:Demo'ed and used some other gloves
Bottom Line:Generally, good gloves. Good value. Might still try some other ones. 3 Chilis stand for good, so 3 shall it be.

Weaknesses:None yet.
Similar Products Used:Activa cut-off gloves

Bottom Line:For the price it's a great glove to wear and it gives you good grip on the trails. The fabric allows them to keep your hand warm on those early morning rides.

Submitted by John Katayama a Weekend Warrior from Sacramento, CA
Date Reviewed: April 6, 2002
Favorite Trail:not sure yet
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $15.00
Purchased At:Walmart
Strengths:Decent padding in the palms of the glove, looks great, matched my bike and helmet. Nice terry cloth area for the snot and sweat wiping times on the trails.
Weaknesses:The threads started to unravel in about two weeks. The synthetic leather gel palm is shredding. Stitching is coming apart. Turns your hands black after you use them for a while and take them off.
Similar Products Used:Fox, Gary Fisher.
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Tassajara '02 (Stock)
Bottom Line:Don't buy this glove unless you want to end up buying another pair in about a month or so. Mine have shredded and turn my hand black after about a hours worth of riding. I daily commute and off-road on the weekends. I would have bought the gary fisher or fox gloves, but they costed more. So beware....you get what you pay for.

Submitted by John a Cross Country Rider from W Babylon
Date Reviewed: June 7, 2001
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Local Bike Shop
Strengths:Comfortable and durable. I have dragged these gloves through nasty skank mud, rain and snow and theve lasted almost two years. The terry section on the thumb is great for wiping sweat and cleaning off your lips.
Weaknesses:Schoolbus Yellow... thats all they had.
Similar Products Used:Spenco
Bike Setup:Ross Mt. Katadin w/ XT drivetrain and brakes. It's a great bike I swear.
Bottom Line:The last pair of gloves I had lasted 10 years (before I discovered how much fun it is to play in the woods) before the EPA confiscated them. I have these for 2 years and they are beginning to wear. Definitly a good deal.

Submitted by Bobby T a from Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada
Date Reviewed: March 4, 2001
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $16.00
Purchased At:Canadian Tire
Strengths:Good grip, quality feel
Weaknesses:padding in areas
Bike Setup:2000 Rocky Mountain Oxygen Race
Bottom Line:I picked these up because they were $10 off. I tried on a couple other pairs of gloves, but the Bells seemed to have the best feel to them. They have a good quality feel and the material adapts to your hands nicely. My only gripe is the lack of padding on the heel of the palm. That's usually where I take my hits when I fall.

Submitted by Syntaxerror a Weekend Warrior from Plano, TX
Date Reviewed: January 24, 2001
Favorite Trail:anything without cars
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $15.00
Purchased At:Academy
Strengths:Gel pads on the palms really absorb shock without loosing grip. Comfy neoprene shell with clever sweatband material inside the glove on the back side of the hand, and on the outside of the glove at the base of the thumb. Makes it easy to wipe sweat off of your forehead.
Weaknesses:Stitching at the ends of the half fingers fell apart after 20 miles. A little needle and thread fixed that.
Bike Setup:Trek 4300
Bottom Line:When they become dirty and smelly, throw em away and get another pair. They are cheap and they work. Just make sure you know someone that can sew.
