Strengths:Awesome, Awesome gloves: comfortable, very light padding, breathable, secure. Everything an XCer could want (unless you're in the NW & want waterproof).
Weaknesses:RIP AXO; is now 661, and their current version sucks big pickle. I think 661 how many thousands of bonus dollars the CEO received after having their production shift towards inerior materials.
Similar Products Used:fox sidewinder (knuckle scouring interior), 661 Descend (poor fit, bunchy stitching)
Bike Setup:not important
Bottom Line:These gloves are the best. Mine are now ragged after several years of riding & falling in dust, dirt, rocks and rain. Will I keep using them? Hell yeah, even with my fingers poking through, because I can't find a current product to replace them with. Suggestions welcome...

Strengths:Wow...Where do I begin! I have only seriously been biking for around three years now and this is the only glove I ever have ever used. This is a durable glove
Weaknesses:Not one single complaint
Bottom Line:Do not hesitate one second if you are looking for a glove that will not give out on you. This is it! Three years of riding and only a small hole or two to prove it. I have seen other gloves give out on some of my buddies after only a few months of riding. I swear that these are almost indestructable

Strengths:- The longest lasting glove I've ever used.
- Tough yet amazingly comfortable and tactile.
- Loved it so much that I continue wearing until I could stick both thumbs and most fingers through the glove, I couldn't find a replacement Descend
...if only I could post a picture of how much it has worn out.
Weaknesses:- Maybe the price, SGD$60 for a glove (especially back in the day)was a bit on the high side, but the performance is amazing and well worth the cost.
Similar Products Used:- Fox Racing Static (2003 model, current glove)
- O'Neal
- Another brand can't remember
Bottom Line:The best glove I've ever used, the longest-lasting, the most tactile yet provided more comfort then fatter-padded gloves and the easiest to wear and take off.

I just learnt today that formerly AXO Cycling is now SixSixOne, but I haven't bought a 661 glove yet. That's why the 661 Descend glove bares a similar resemblance and the same name as AXO's version.

So this makes it a part review for the SixSixOne Descend glove as well.

I think it sells for AUD$45-50 now and my Fox Static is not performing as perectly as I hoped. SixSixOne is my new friend.

Bottom Line:these glove kick ass, I rode them all this year and crashed hundreds of times. there could be a little more padding but for 16 dollar gloves i can't complaine. the rubber on the fungers rubbed off but there was no use in them anyways. every time the get dirty i through them in the wash and the look brand new like fresh out of the store it amazing. there is only one hole starting to form because the sinthetic leather has worn down to paper thin.

I bought them because they are supposed to be tough gloves. Maybe I got a lemon. I expect a glove to last the whole summer not just 30rides. Strengths:Tough, good fit, not too hot for hot weather, works for most cool weather. Just enough protection. Good price.
Weaknesses:absolutely none, and I don't hand that out lightly!
Similar Products Used:various short fingered gloves combined with bloody fingers
Bike Setup:Specialized FSR stumpjumper with Avid discs, XT hubs and derailluers, other stock stuff, grip shifters
Bottom Line:I bought these on sale, based on good reviews, and massacred hands from brushy xc riding drove me to full-fingers. These are AWESOME. Tough as nails and cooler than I could have hoped for. Yet warm enough, somehow in cool weather to be sufficient. I have been combining them with EVS wrist protectors for ground grabbing ultimate protection. I also do a lot of trail work and often don't get around to switching to work gloves. Lots of abuse and they are still going strong with almost daily use and lots of trips through the washing machine. A fair amount of dexterity, allowing me to use them with my camera. A GOOD product!!! I should buy a pile of them before they replace them with something inferior.

Strengths:- Rubber protection on knuckles and digits
- Strong stiching that doesn't come apart like fox gloves
- Cheaper than Fox gloves
- Kevlar palm heel pad
- Nice fit, designed for human hands
- Spandex wrist section for comfort
- Strong rubber velcro latch on wrist
- Top quality innner leather
- Cool finger tip grip pads for break lever pinching
Weaknesses:- The finger tip grip pads are peeling off
- The Kevlar palm heel pads wear on rubber grips
(grips are cheap to replace and I'd rather do that instead of having to dig out a pebble in my palm or have skin grafts.)
Similar Products Used:fox

Bottom Line:Don't buy fox gloves. I know that the fox logo and styling is cool and their other products are good but AXO makes a better glove. the Fox gloves don't fit as well as the AXO gloves and the stiching in the Fox gloves comes apart. the AXO gloves are designed better and last longer. The descend is their best glove in my opinion. Buy it! Oh yeah! They also come in bright yellow which you can use to guide airplanes on a tarmack.

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $23.00
Purchased At:perfomancebikes.com
Strengths:Great fit, durable, good breathablity, and nice looking. Convenient terry cloth lined along the thumb to wipe away sweat.
Weaknesses:The wrist strap is a little flimsy, the rubber peels away from the velcro after about 6 months of normal wear and washing. Don't get me wrong, the velcro piece is still fully functional and will still keep your glove secure.

Also, the fingertip rubber grips peel off after a few months. But it doesn't matter since the grips are pretty useless in the first place.

Both of these defects are only cosmetic.

Strengths:Very comfortable, and extremely breathable. I wore mine during the Arizona summer and couldn't complain. The kevlar palm patch is a great idea. Rubber knuckle armor is very confidence-inspiring. These things are so comfortable it feels better to wear them then to not wear them.
Weaknesses:The rubber patches on the finger tips peel off after a month or so. No big deal, in my opinion, they don't really do that much to start with. Expensive. The gripshift padding is kind of annoying when you don't use gripshifts. I'd also prefer less padding on the palms.
Similar Products Used:Lots of fingerless gloves, and some Azonic Moto's (XXL in the Azonic is the same as the AXO XL)
Bike Setup:Trials
Bottom Line:I bought these after a stupid biff on a sealcoated street filled my palms with gravel. I was reluctant to get full fingers, but decided to take the risk, and I'm glad I did. Great protection, and surprising breathability. If they can handle Arizona summer heat (120 degrees F) they can work anywhere. One less body part to have to worry about when you're crashing in the rough stuff.
If you have big hands, order the XXL (size 12).

Strengths:They have held up way better than my last two full finger gloves
They are full-finger
Not much padding to bunch up in your palm. If you have great suspension (i.e. a Bomber with springs, plus a carbon fibre handle bar) you won't need padding in your gloves.
Weaknesses:A little warm in the middle of summer, but these gloves are so great I still wear them.
If you don't have suspension or bad suspension, these gloves won't have enough padding for you

Strengths:The Axo glove really fits like your own skin on your bone. It smooths out the trail by not rubbing grips on your hand causing blisters in my case. The glove also looks aggresive, I have bought the black, was hoping for the red but soldout. There was also lots of padding which is good.
Weaknesses:The back of glove should be dark color because the gray will get dirty fast.

Strengths:Lighweight, breathable material. Snug fitting, with a great break grip feature on the index finger(s). Extra padding on the thumb & forefinger area for grip shifters.
Weaknesses:Stitching in the finger area can be weak, resulting in loose threads and eventually gaping holes where the mesh material meets the suede.
Similar Products Used:REI short finger MTB glove.

Bottom Line:Great Glove for the money! If you want to keep your hands warm on those chilly mornings, but need something light that wont cause your hands to sweat profusely, then this is the product for you. The breathable mesh material on the back really works well. The velcro closure completes a very snug fit. The way that the padding is arranged on the palm, really helps your hands grip the bar, bar end, and brake levers with confidence. The colors & graphics are really cool looking as well, although it did not influence my decision to purchase the product (that's just gravy!). The glove wicks sweat better than any other wicking product I've owned! When I take these gloves off after going 13+ miles on an XC ride, my hands are surprisingly dry. I was really apprehensive about spending $36.00 for a glove, but now I am glad that I did! 4 chilis all around!

Bottom Line:I've enjoyed these gloves immensely. They've kept my hands from getting chewed up on a number of occasions. I've crashed in them several times, and with the exception of one small tear they've held up remarkably well, and I'm really hard on my gear. They are comfortable to wear, except for the fact that they always leave marks on my hands where the seams are (I can't feel it when I'm riding). They're not too unbearably hot in the summer and can keep you warm on cooler days. Hold together well after machine washing. High quality stitching. I'm giving it a four on value because fourty dollars is a lot of money, but they have worn well and I expect them to last a lot longer.

Similar Products Used:Fingerless gloves
Bike Setup:Titus RacerX, Fisher Montare, C'dale SR500
Bottom Line:I won these in a contest and got the women's large. My hands are fairly square, so looking back, the men's version may have fit a bit better. The palm padding is a bit narrow at the base of my hand, so I am resting on the seam. Women with slender hands may find the women's model fits well, but if your hands are square like mine, try the men's. Other than that, they are quite nice and fit well. The plastic knuckle guards articulate in all the right places. The rubber tips on the first two fingers help to grip brake levers. Time will tell about durability.

The palm of the hand got bruised badly and the wrist is so sore even after 4 weeks, but I lost no skin and the palm of the gloves got ripped a little bit. I'm sure the glove saved me a lot of pain. Well worth the money. You need the protective pads on this glove.

choice of materials, construction, attention to detail, appearance
Weaknesses:
none so far

Cannondale SV, Specialized Stumpjumper
Bottom Line:I bought these gloves looking for a full-fingered warmer weather replacement. It's obvious the folks at AXO really thought about the design of these babies. They have many nice touches like kevlar in the palm and rubber to protect the back of your hands and fingers. The rubber strips on the index finger seemed a little gimmicky when I saw them in the store, but they did actually grip a little on my RapidFire triggers when my hands were soaked. Grip Shifters will appreciate the extra material on the thumb-index finger contact area. The velcro cuff closure keeps everything snug. So many great features in a glove that also looks very nice. Some have already said that they're a bit expensive, but for such a good rider to bike interface item, they're tops in my book. 5 flaming AXO Descend covered fingers from me!

Bottom Line:I love these gloves. They look cool (I have the black ones), they protect well, and they fit perfectly. They also protect my paws from this dang nasty wind that San Francisco has been cursed with this last year. I'm just waiting to punch out a roller blader in Golden Gate Park with this glove on. Can't they look where they're going??? I'm sure it wouldn't even hurt my soft, supple, G-spot lovin' fingers. Heck, I'm gonna have sex with these babies on 'cause they turn the girlies wild. Five incinerating pods!!!SATAN RULES!!!
