Bottom Line:
Simply, up to this point I was a hardcore name-brand aficionado. Arai, Shoei, TLD, etc. I have owned, ridden, and crashed them all. I am a fan of DOT legal full face helmets, that way I can run one helmet for moto and DH. I will admit, I was skeptical and thought that there is now way a new brand could possibly compete with the big boys. Their sales rep was persistent and I finally caved in. A large part of that was learning that the lead engineer for Kali is ex Lockeed and a composite engineering whiz. Being an engineer myself, this opened the company up to my consideration. Best helmet I have owned. Period. The sizes are small jumps, I usually wear a medium but the rep insisted I buy a small and after one ride it feels better than any other helmet I have worn, $100 fox to $600 Arai/Shoei. Light, great visibility, surprising ventilation, removable pads, comes with extra pads for fit purposes, paint is great, visors are only $25 painted, so on and so on. BEST HELMET FOR THE MONEY BAR NONE. Lighter than my previous standard, Troy Lee SE2. Please give them a chance for your own sake. New model coming out early 2010 that will be more in line with current market trends (read: more stylized shell) but will also be more expensive.
