Strengths: three lense choices, carrying bag,the lenses are more durable then any others I have had.CheapWeaknesses: After several years of daily use I finally tossed them, because the lenses were getting scratchy. The funky silicone rubber they use never dries out,but it eventually gets smaller, dirty and loose.Have had some fog problems in the rain.Bottom Line: I have never ventured into the elite, yuppy, poser crowd when it comes to eyewear.I refuse to buy sunglasses for a hundred plus bucks.I think I gave 35 for the Salsas and for me they were a steal. They have by fay outlasted any other pair of glasses I have owned.
Favorite Trail: porcupine rim
Duration Product Used: More than 3 years
Price Paid:
$35.00
Similar Products Used: anything under $50,none ever last over a year.
Bike Setup: Coast King with racing slicks, banana seat, sissy bar,ape hangers,home-fab chopper fork, and did I say cards on the spokes for real engine sound.I love my bike

Strengths: price, salsa name, durablity of frame, quality of lense, stay on your head, allows decent peripheral visionWeaknesses: you look silly wearing if you aren't on a bike (that can be said for most cycling equipment though), they could wrap around a little fartherBottom Line: These glasses are dirt cheap, look good (kinda like oakleys), and say salsa on 'em. I've stepped on and sat on them at least a dozen times and haven't broke them yet, the lenses aren't spectacular but are very good. I notice little if any distortion even towards the edges of my peripheral. The rubber grippy ear pieces keep them on your head.
The very edge of your vision is very important especially for a quick check behind you to see if the road/trail is clear at high speeds. These glasses block that for me, but i am able to see enough that i use them all the time and haven't had any trouble.
I haven't tried any other cycling specific glasses (i'm not paying $100+), but i'm going to have to say that these are very good and ridiculously cheap for what you get. They even come with a carrying bag that says salsa on it. I got the ones with clear lenses but i think you can get other colors too.
