Through the D3O patented shock absorbing technology and the PU based cellular polymer that make the Race Face Ambush Knee Pads can be either flexible and comfortable or strong and stiff in the case of an emergency situation, always ready to absorb the energy of the impact and protect vulnerable areas.
Strengths: The D30 gel. Reasonably comfy. Fits in my pack.
Weaknesses: A little bit bulky. Only one strap to hold it in place (althou there's stretchy mesh that goes around your forearm).
Bottom Line:
After two rides, I have to say I like the knee set up better. I wear these and I feel like I have growths on my elbows. Managed to get a long sleeve jersey on over. Haven't tested the impact protection. Will have to see if the nylon 'catches' on things if I get too close. My old Roach FR stuff would just slide off.
