Product Description

The POC Joint VPD Elbow Pads offer serious protection, yet they're designed for situations where full-on body armor seems a bit overkill. Part of the beauty of the Joint VPD pad design is the slim nature, allowing them to be worn easily underneath a jersey -- you can look casual and be safe at the same time. POC encases a VPD cushion over the elbow joint just inside a tough aramid/lycra material for abrasion resistant, yet lightweight protection. The Joint Elbow Pads are designed so that a bend is the "normal" position, as few of us ride straight-armed for any length of time and it's frustrating to be fighting with your pads while riding. VPD, or visco-elastic polymer dough, is something special. If you work it slowly in your hands, it's soft and conforms easily around shapes. But slam something, like a rock or tree into it, and it becomes instantly hard. And in that instant, comfort becomes protection via some molecular magic. VPD is more comfortable and outperforms other "soft armor" designs in safety testing. After all, that's the point isn't it?The POC Joint VPD Elbow Pads use one elasticized velcro strap above the elbow to hold them firmly in place. They come in Black and are available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes.

Strengths:    comfortable, flexible

Weaknesses:    loosen up after a while (stretch), makes it tough to know your getting the right size when you buy them.

Bottom Line:
this was the first armor item i bought, after trying on a few types i find the really comfortable. Keeps my arms warm in the winter as well.

I would recommend these for anyone with a heavier bone structure, just wear them for an evening before your first ride to break them.

POC bone arm protector or VPD joint elbow pads?

I'm looking at getting some elbow pads after constantly ripping my elbow up and getting stitches the other day. I'm pretty much set on getting POC's because of all the good things I've heard. My main dilemma now is choosing which ones. My riding is on the east coast with lots of roots and rocks. ... Read More »
