The only thing worse than taking a digger is the thud your body makes as it hits the ground. The POC Hip VPD Short 2.0 pads your hips and tailbone so you can point and shoot without constantly pondering the odds of hip-kissing a jagged stump every 100 yards. Flexible VPD padding at the upper thighs, hip bones, and tailbone keeps rocks, roots, and hardpack dirt from ending your day early. CoolMax panels wick away moisture and help regulate your body temperature so you don't overheat.
These are the best pair of padded compression shorts I've found to go underneath baggy shorts. The padding is excellent. It's in all the right places. The fit of the shorts are perfect. And, the pads stay in place while ridding. The only complaint I have is the chamois is a little thin, but not a deal breaker. I would buy these shorts all over again.
The picture shown is the ski version. The wheels version is all black, so make sure that is clear wherever you purchase them.

Strengths: These shorts really surprised me. The polymer really does stiffen up on impacts. The material doesn't slide around. It heats up as you ride and becomes more comfortable to wear to the point that it isn't really noticed.
