$20.00 | | Strengths: | Easy to slip on, lightweight | | Weaknesses: | Easy to slip off, especially during a crash. The guard(s) will slide up your arm and you'll lose skin, believe me, I have the scars to prove it. | | Similar Products Used: | Rockgardn | | Bottom Line: | Use only for XC | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | lbs | | Strengths: | lightweight, breathable - see previous review | | Weaknesses: | limited protection for DH | | Bike Setup: | Astrix Huckster | | Bottom Line: | Loved these for XC/Trail work. Have used them for 18 months in DH. Had a decent 'slide' after casing a landing. Left elbow bore the brunt as the fox simply slid up and provided no protection. These will be assigned to XC duties only.
Still great for XC - but NOT for DH. (rating below for DH) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Interbike | | Strengths: | Light, well ventilated | | Weaknesses: | Don't stay in place, not much padding | | Similar Products Used: | Fox Racing Extreme arm guards | | Bottom Line: | I can't really recommend these because they slide down your arm, leaving the tip of your elbow protected only by a little bit of foam instead of the hard plastic. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Supergo | | Strengths: | lightweight, cheap | | Weaknesses: | move around too much, get very sweaty, minimal protection with small, thin flexy pads. Sizing just does not seem right for me. | | Bike Setup: | Jekyll with SRAM ESP 9.0 drivechain | | Bottom Line: | I didn't find these pads to be very good at all -not even really adequate. The biggest problem I have is they move down your arm, leaving my elbow exposed. I just can't seem to get comfortable with them. In one respect I feel they are too small, yet they move around. Surely a bigger size would move around even more? Another issue is that these things really make your arms sweat big time (though admittedly that could just be me!).
These are obviously not for downhillers; the pads are small and not too thick -just right for XC I'd think -of course, assuming they'd stay in place. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | lightweight, flexible, breathable | | Weaknesses: | none as yet | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | jekyll 800 | | Bottom Line: | These are a good product for what they are intended - ie a bit of protection for lightweight trail use. if you constantly crash doing the downhill thing - get something more robust.
For me, they are perfect. Long day/night rides, hot conditions, trail riding. Am sick of stitches in the elbow (always the right hand side for some reason) - have crashed pretty hard onto these a few times. No new stitches yet!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Ted's Bicycles | | Strengths: | comfortable to wear even in hot weather, good breathibility through lycra. good elbow protection in most cases. Has a close thin feel and fits great under jackets, sweatshirts and the like, have been very durable for me even with many washes. | | Weaknesses: | will slip down arm on rough descents where proper placement may be most important. | | Similar Products Used: | none on the trail, countless try ons in stores. | | Bike Setup: | Specialized FSR elite full suspension set up for downhill and Cannondale jekyll for cross country rides | | Bottom Line: | Highly recommend for cross country riding, not the best for extreme downhill. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Cycleloft | | Strengths: | Light and you do not feel like you have them on. | | Weaknesses: | Cannot be worn over sweatshirt jackets etc. Minimal protection. No velcro straps so buy a size smaller than you expect. | | Bike Setup: | Specialized stumpjumper | | Bottom Line: | First thing what type of riding are you doing? Also what type of protection you want?
These are light pads, but they offer minimum protection. If you are a cross country rider they will protect against scraps and cuts. However, they do not have plastic so do not expect them to protect against any type of impact. If you are a downhill rider I would not buy these.
If you want a product that is light and you are a cross country rider they are great. However you cannot fit these over a sweatshirt etc.

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Super light weight | | Weaknesses: | Minimal protection- teeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaar | | Similar Products Used: | BMX elbow pads | | Bike Setup: | Giant Warp DS3 | | Bottom Line: | I have already reviewed these but wanted to comment on them after a couple months of use. Please do not buy these pads. They are good for 2-3 times and the thread will begin ripping off. They are practically fallen apart and I have only taken 1 not so bad spill. Fox' cheapest items in any departement (jerseys, shorts, etc.) are very poorly made. I borrowed a jersey from my cousin and it was hotter that a regular shirt. DO NOT GET THESE. Spend your $20 on something that will last longer, like a pizza. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Two Wheels One Planet | | Strengths: | Give adequate protection without the bulky "shell" feel you get from regular pads. Very cheap, look pretty o.k. | | Weaknesses: | Inner spandex liner seems like it will rip easily.(I almost ripped it the first time I took them off)Only cover elbow and small part of forearm. | | Similar Products Used: | Elbow skin-not fun. | | Bike Setup: | Giant Warp DS3,Azonic love seat,Marzocchi Z1 wedge,MOSH platform pedals. | | Bottom Line: | These things are great for someone who is not doing any hardcore downhilling and does not want the added weight of the Turttle Shell pads. I am hoping they will stay in place on a highspeed downhill spill. Good: Cheap, fairly comfortable and give confidence. Bad:Pretty warm considering how lightweight they are, appear to be weak at seams. I go freeriding 4 days out of the week and love these. They look pretty nice and make my elbows not so scared. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Mountain Boarder Town | | Strengths: | As everyone else has said this product has its merits. They are really light and comfortbale. However... | | Weaknesses: | These merits are heavily outweighed by the cons. The fabric has already torn on, they constantly slip of my arm. Are good for minor abrasiosn nothing past that | | Similar Products Used: | First | | Bike Setup: | RM Reaper | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line is that these pads are not bad for a Sunday ride but if youre going to be using these extensively buy something else because they tear easily and slip of, and don't offer much protection. They're good for light weight purposes

$25.00 | | Strengths: | Lightweight, cheap. They are comfortable, maybe a little warm for a hot summer day. Not bulky and don't interfere with riding in any way. | | Weaknesses: | Boy howdy if they didn't just slide right up my arm the first crash I had. Just got the staples removed today. | | Bottom Line: | Hmmmmm... not so happy with the purchase. They are comfortable to wear, but maybe give you more confidence than actual protection. They would probably would stay on if the crash wasn't at high speed, but seems like to me most of my mishaps where my elbow takes a beating are on high speed turns. However, they are pretty cheap. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | MTB Wherehouse | | Strengths: | Really lightweight and comfortable. Great protection for your elbows and almost feel like a part of you! | | Weaknesses: | Forearm coverage is limited but then again they aren't forearm guards! Give you a nice tan line. | | Similar Products Used: | Fox 911 elbow/forearm guards | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line is that these elbow guards rock! They are so light you don't even feel like you have them on and they keep the skin on your elbows where it belongs! Great for you confidence especially on the downhills. I recommend these to all of my friends and wear them all the time. I love them! Probably the best 20 bucks I have spent for mountain biking. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Musselmans Honda | | Strengths: | Durable, lightweight, don't even know they're there when riding. Price is good too. | | Weaknesses: | None that I can think of. | | Similar Products Used: | AXO chest/arm protector | | Bike Setup: | 2000 Gary Fisher Aquila | | Bottom Line: | I bought these a few years ago to use during MX riding. When I started MTB, I figured they'd come in handy. I've used them evey ride ever since. They don't cover the entire lower half of your arm, but the elbows was where I needed protection more. I haven't taken any skin off my elbows since using them, and they work great defending against cactus. Value = 5 chilis because they're cheap and work good. Overall = 5 since I haven't had any problems, and use them every ride. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
