NiteFlux Photon Max Extreme Lights

DESCRIPTION

The Photon Max Extreme is intensely illuminating at 1350 Lumens; It gives you that "what if factor" - You won't be left wondering with this system, select high and hold on, everything in the immediate area and well down the track will be bathed in intense white light. Hyper speed night riding is a reality with this baby! The Extreme shares the same chassis as the standard Max with the top two LED's up-graded to the latest in Hi-Watt multi chip LED's, effectively doubling the light output from the top two locations. With a 550

Lumen increase over the standard Max, this triple LED system will satisfy even the most light-hungry riders. The extreme redefines Hi-Watt LED lighting. The burn time on high beam at 20watts still gives a purposeful 1.5 hours of runtime, the Hi-Intensity LED's are ultra efficient at all wattages. Four well spaced power levels extend runtimes and allow you to match light outputs to the situation at hand. A strategically placed temperature sensor linked to a central micro processor ensures the LEDs are never thermally overloaded..

Strength:

Wide beam. High lumens per dollar. It's bright.

Weakness:

There's one button to operate this light, and it's located flush with the side of the battery. This makes it difficult to locate. This is silly. Just when you're starting that high-speed, technical downhill, you want to turn it up. You have to reach down to the battery and find the button while steering with your left hand. That can get exciting.

After doing some research on this site, it appeared this light offered the most lumens per dollar. And this thing is plenty bright, with a nice wide beam. But the location of the on/off button is a joke. What were the designers thinking?

Strength:

Light weight, easy to set up, powerful, battery life.

Weakness:

The battery size.

I got this light because most of my biking is done at night. I'm currently in Iraq and night riding is a lot cooler then during the day. I have the light set up on my helmet which is not a problem because it's so light weight ,the battery stays in my pocket. I ride both on trails and on the road so having it on my helmet helps with on coming traffic so I can face the light away from the drivers and still see where I'm going. The light has a nice pattern and stays that way throughout the ride. I would probably use the different light settings more if it didn't require me to have to move my hands away from the handle bar. This really isn't a problem since the Med to Med/Hi settings are plenty bright. This is an outstanding all around light, great value when one considers competitors prices for less light. Can be used in other applications other than biking. Plenty of features to protect the light and battery.
