Strength:

Rock solid frame. Very comfortable riding geometry. Love the range of 24 gears.

Weakness:

Heavy, but a different fork (which is on my list), this will improve.

I am a weekend warrior; love to ride, but no time (or desire) for serious training. Was looking for a fs bike for long trail rides, didn't want to break the bank, wanted something sturdy. The Big Hit hit it big. Bought mine for $150 on Craigslist. My dream improvements will mean I'll end up spending a total of $1k for the bike. Perfect.

The bike is heavy, but it's confidence-inspiring down hill. The stock rear shock is bouncy, but I think that's because my bike is used. When I replace that, it'll be ideal.

If you're like me (enthusiastic but don't want to spend huge amounts of $ or time maintaining your bike), keep scanning craigslist and other used sources for this bike. Be patient; this bike is worth waiting for. I like it more every time I ride.

Strength:

bomber could not hurt this thing

Weakness:

the front fork sucks some marzocchi that is horrible. The frame design is not meant to be pedaled just coasting

The stock fork sucks big time but the frame design is burley. I tried to hurt this thing but it just kept going. if longevity is your problem there is only one pivot and everything else will need greasing.

Strength:

handles great! very confidence inspiring, you can really bomb hills that you would think twice about on an xc bike. handles jumps excellently.

Weakness:

a little on the heavy side, especially for any sort of xc or distance riding. should really come stock with a bash guard for the front sprocket.

this is a great bike for the money. it is designed for downhill/freeride, so dont buy it if your just looking for serious xc bike. i'm about 135 pounds and the suspension setup is pretty close to perfect. I've only been riding this bike for three days, so I'll post an update soon. the seller dropped the price because it is missing the top chainstay. The chain didn't fall off until my third ride, where it fell off about 4 times in 15 minutes! overall, if you can find one of these for the right price, and you're getting interested in downhill, go for it.

Strength:

Solid, Reliable, Strong Bike. Mobs on the downhill course. I manage to ride it around town but not made for that obviously. Takes the drops well, handles great

Weakness:

Bottom Bracket is a little low thus hitting rocks on technical stuff gets annoying. leads to the peddles being low which causes run ins with rocks and what not but its tolerable if you keep an eye out and compensate for it with riding technique

After upgrading the rear spring to a new 300lb and pumping the front shocks up to 55lbs I can say its an awesome bike for the money. Took it out to black rock for my first time and was doing some 5ft drops by the end of the day no problem. Takes the jumps pretty good. Feels really stable and provides lots of fun for a noob. The brakes and tires I have aren't enough to stop in time when it comes to big jumps and tight corners but those can be upgraded in time.

If you can get a good deal like I did then go for it. If you have to pay close to retail I would just get a better bike like a Kona Stinky or something.

Strength:

strong frame. low center of gravity.

Weakness:

rear shock. lots of chain growth.

this bike is great for beginners but if you are serious about riding and racing this is not the bike for you. it corners pretty well due to a low center of gravity and pops off of jumps well. it pedals ok and is nimble in the air. but the rear shock is not very good and feels like there is no dampeneing in it. it bottoms out all the time. for a starter bike i would recommend this to someone who is willing to replace things as they break.

Strength:

frame and front fork(Sherman), seat.

Weakness:

rear shock. X fusion sucks. ditch witch rims, components.

This bike isn't the greatest, but it does have an amazing feel and i just cant bring myself to get rid of it. I use it mostly for free riding, and drop offs. Only things i would change are the rims, and rear suspension.

Strength:

very strong frame, decent components, great for DH/FR

Weakness:

the pedals suck! (i hit a jump and when i landed, my foot slipped off and i broke my leg!)the fork got effed up when i was testing it in the parking lot, and the rear shock bottoms out on a 2 ft drop! also, the grips wear down really quickly, and the bike doesnt come with a bash guard

this is a decent bike, but you will need to put in a lot of $$ to make it good. once i had the fox vanilla r fork and rear shock, i thought i was set, but then i broke my leg so i put on better pedals. the bike doesnt have a lot of clearance, so i had to put on a bash guard, and now the bike could take 12 ft. drops, but then the fork got loose so i had to put in a stiffer spring, but now i have a drop off triple because i traded with my friend. if your willing to put in $$ then this bike will rock, but otherwise, its mostly a beginners bike.
