The fix pin which is not interchangeable is blunt and also polished like the body. Hence the grip is minimal and might even be sliperry in wet condition.

I would not recommend this pedal to anyone riding seriously... Can only be used to ride around, maybe for the bling factor???
If you get the pedal with a new bike, change it before going for a serious ride. Or even trade in with the store if you could...
I changed mine to the Shimano DX and couldn't be happier...

There is nothing wrong with these pedals if you never, ever get moisture on or even near them, or your shoes. When using these pedals in completely dry instances, their performance is great. I find the amount of grip is perfect. I have ridden pedals that actually grip too much and you literally have to lift your whole foot off of the pedal just to make an adjustment. Not to mention they tear up your shoes. Not so here, Your foot feels planted and rarely do you feel as though the grip is inadequate. This all of course is in dry conditions.
And this is where the story turns ugly. Incorporate a tiny bit of H2O into the mix and you've created an instant monster. They go from a fairly decent pedal to basic crap in the splash of a raindrop. It becomes a challenge to actually try to keep your foot ON the pedal. I feel this is due to the fact that the pins actually have a slightly rounded top edge instead of a "sharp cut top" kind of profile. These things were obviously not R and D'd in wet weather.
I will say that durability has been fantastic. No problems with bearings going or shafts bending or anything of that nature. This is after 1 season and about 1000 kms. Top marks in that regard.
Overall these could have been a really great pedal, but the wet weather issue is one too great to be ignored. Ahhh, nevermind the "wet weather", just step on some grass with dew or ride through a puddle and Mr. Shiney may very well be meeting up with Mr.Hussefelt before you would have hoped. This drastically brings down the score of these pedals.

Sorry, but these seem to have a quality control issue. I bought a pair of these as open box and the left pedal had a right threaded bearing in it. Kudos for the LBS in offering me a brand new pair in exchange, however after a season of light trail riding, city commutes and some cross country one of the bearings has failed on the left pedal and started to seize up. I know I'm a clydesdale at 230 lbs, but I don't ride aggressively, so I would expect better reliability from a mid-range pedal. Truvativ is 0-2 on this count. I've moved on to 1664 pedals.

Great styling and nice profile. The pedals are a mere 10 mm thinner then nornal platforms. The only big problem is keeping your feet on them. They are soslipery like they are teflon coated. If you are into performance don't buy these pedals. Or if you are into the bling factor still don't buy these pedals!

These pedals will hold up and it not a quality issue just a feet staying on the pedals issue my feet kept sliding off even with fiveten riding shoes I traded them out after one day of real riding.
