If you're into DH riding, or if your trails have a lot of technical sections, a platform-style clipless pedal may be the way to go. The larger surface area gives you a bigger target for re-engaging if you put a foot out, and if you miss clipping back in during a rocky section, your foot will still have a surface to stand on.
Time's Z Pedal lives on in the ATAC DH 4, complete with the ATAC system (Auto Tension Adjustment Concept) which simply separates float from spring tension. The aluminum body spins on an oversized steel axle supported by two cartridge bearings.
