The guy I bought them from quite literally told me that if they hit your shins hard, they're going to rip flesh from bone. So either suck it up and get a few scars (plus carry a first aid kit)...or wear shin guards. Besides that I'm really happy with these for the price. I've banged these off a few rocks quite hard and the most that happened was the black paint chipped off a bit. The studs seem really tough. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$40.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Extremely gripy, inexpensive, light, replaceable pins, Looks awesome on a MTB Value! | | Weaknesses: | Non so far. Maybe the paint comes off when you scrape a rock or two. | | Bottom Line: | 28 pins keep you firmly planted on these peddles. They have great mud clearance and you can use them with any shoe you own. (but for bear feet lol OUCH), Big contact area, pins seem indestructible!
I bought these when my Wellgo cage strap ins broke to the spindle in a matter of a week. Have had these 7 months and the only thing I have broke or damaged are a few rocks, logs, and sidewalk curbs. OH and my shins a bit. Grip light glue and takes a bit to get use to having such a large surface that you have you foot on. But other wise perfect for the price and anyone who likes a big grippy peddle.
Looks awesome on a MTB. Fits in well too, though I have some BMX ers ask me were to get a par. Lol I like them and have ordered another 2 pair for my other bike and as spare.
I hear that the cross bar brakes but hasent happened to me and I have hit may things that has nearly flipped me with them.

$30.00 | | Strengths: | Great pedals if you can keep from breaking them. Stick to your feet like glue if you're wearing Vans or other sticky flat-soled shoes. | | Weaknesses: | Cross bar broke when it smacked a log I was riding over. This pedal wasn't designed to withstand any type of real impact to that crossbar. There just isn't enough meat left in the frame after the holes are drilled for the outermost pins on those crossbars. Mine broke right at those pin holes and it was clear as day just how little material there is to take any direct impacts. | | Similar Products Used: | None really, I was a clipless guy before. | | Bike Setup: | KHS FR2000, Bomber FR SL, Rhynolites, Kenda Nevegal 2.5's. | | Bottom Line: | There cheap for what you get. $29.00 | | Purchased At: | JensonUSA | | Strengths: | Grippy, strong, do their job. Lighter than my Primo Tenderizers | | Weaknesses: | Painful when they hit your shins. All platforms should do that, so this really isn't a negative at all. | | Similar Products Used: | Primo Tenderizers, Odyssey cage, Tioga Surefoot, Lots of unmarked stock platforms,... | | Bike Setup: | FSRxc Comp w/ XT/SRAM, Psylo Race, Avid mechs | | Bottom Line: | All of the pins on this pedal are replaceable, and stronger than most other platforms. I pounded a rock with the face of one pedal and when I looked expecting to see some missing pins, I instead saw rock fragments and rock powder coating the pedal. That is good. It is platforms like these that convince me never to buy a set of clipless pedals. The grips is amazing, and I can ride in any decent pair of shoes I choose. Skate shoes are the best. For the price, you can afford to buy a pair of these a year, but I have never had bad luck with the bearing in my pedals. I'm going to get a spare set just to have around too. You never know. $25.00 | | Purchased At: | Ebay | | Strengths: | Did not break the cages. | | Weaknesses: | Both pedals started to show play after a year. Took them apart and was amazed to find that they had no inboard bearings. Just a sleeve that rotated on the pedal spindle. Just like the plastic pedals on a $90 X-Mart bike. Cheap. Anyway, the lubrication was gone on one pedal, so the spindle was scored and shot. I tried to service the other pedal, and found that the outboard cartridge bearing was held in place with a 7mm (yes, 7mm) metric aluminim cap nut. Which of course promptly stripped. Where in the hell am I going to find a 7mm nut? Stupid design. Cheap implementation. | | Similar Products Used: | Everything. The bad is that the part of the pedal that holds the four tractions pins breaks easily. I cracked mine within like a week of installation, but continued to ride it. It finally completely broke so I replaced it with a spare Zu Zu. On my trip out of state, I broke the pedal again in the same exact spot. The crossbar that has four traction pins seems a bit weak. Considering that mountain biking sometimes takes riders into rock gardens and ledges, it's kinda strange. Maybe I'm being a bit piddly because I've used other similar pedals for years and have never had them break like that. I'm talking 7+ years, and seven different bikes and numerous sets of pedals (I don't ride clipless on but one bike). I've ripped traction pins clean out of the bodies, destroyed bearings, worn pins down to nubs but never broken any of the pedals but these. Build em stronger.
* When the service department tries to sell you a set of their new pedals when you inquire about warranty replacement, that's a bad sign. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

A good feeling platform, but very badly designed. Would be best for a commuter bike or someone who never rides in dirt or mud. Seals are really bad and have a tendency to come off and allow mud and water into the bearings. They are fairly easy to rebuild, which is good considering you have to do it after every ride. Rode them probably 10 times and broke the bridge that holds the pins. This piece is very under supported and weak. Save your money and buy a stronger pedal, or be prepared to break yours. When I put this bike together I wanted to try platform pedals and also save money building my beater. I initally had difficulty getting used to not being cliiped in. I have to say I like these pedals alot. They are awesome and I have gotten used to not being cliiped in. I very quickly bought some shin guards and I where them. I have mutiple scars in my shins from all the other pedals listed above. But I have yet to slipp off these pedals. I don't even have a good pair of Vans like I should - that'll be my next purchase. And at this price, who can complain!?! After my first ride a did notice my feet were a little sore from a lack of support in the center but I've been using an oversized pair of BMX pedals with excess support in the center. After a few more rides it's not an issue. I've never had trouble doing bunny hops (except when clipped in) but these pedals make a world of difference. I can lift the back wheel up using my feet only. My hands were just resting in the handlebars. I often find my back wheel now comes higher off the ground in a bunny hop with these super grippy pedals. I'de recommend these to anyone. I was riding LOOK SL3's on my bike most currently, but I didn't like riding them around campus much, and I was starting to get into more technical riding that required more free movement of my feet on the pedals, as well as a larger platform. Now that i have these, I doubt I'll go back to clipless. The Zu Zu's are very grippy with a flat soled shoe, they are relatively inexpensive, and they don't weigh that much. $29.00 | | Purchased At: | PricePoint | | Strengths: | Price/Feet stay on the pedal/Platform great for balancing over rocks | | Similar Products Used: | Brontrager RE1; Shimano 646 | | Bike Setup: | Trek 8000 | | Bottom Line: | Was sure I would break ankle on the Bontrager RE1 so switched to Shimano 646; much better but did break my ankle because of my ankle position when I fell. Sun Zu Zu are exactly what I want-not sure why someone would want an spd pedal-can balance better; foot stays glued to pedal if use soft rubber bottomed shoe. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Durable. | | Weaknesses: | Has the capability to rip skin off. | | Similar Products Used: | Kore Platform | | Bike Setup: | 1999 Schwinn Moab 2 modified: Michelin Hot S, Sun Mammoth/XT rear wheel, XT cassette, LX hollowtech crank with ES-70 splined, profile riser, pretty nice yet a lil heavy. | | Bottom Line: | These peadals work and are damn nice. These are real nice when jumping, but will hurt a lot if skin runs into them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

These kept my feet on the pedals even over the worst sections of the slopes! These pedals can take a beating, stick to your soles like glue (if flat soles), and save your life.
Although I never wrecked in colorado, I have slipped the pedals when trying trials stuff here at home... resulting in some pretty ugly scars on the back on my shins. WEAR PADS. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Annan, Ontario, Great White North Date Reviewed: January 17, 2001 | | Favorite Trail: | Do i have to choose | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Purchased At: | bought on a used rig | | Strengths: | They are big, fat, and beautiful (if you can call a pedal that). The pins will hold down just about anything, even with very light foot pressure, the seals are excellent, I didn't buy these seperately, but I am amazed by the price. | | Weaknesses: | My friend used them for light DH for 4 months, but a bearing in each cartridgs is gone, they make one hell of a screech. Oh well. | | Similar Products Used: | Blah, blah, blah. | | Bike Setup: | Giant DH team, XMO XL-70, System 8's (far better than the Shimano copies), Ac pro guide, other DH stuff | | Bottom Line: | These pedals are super good in ANY conditions, the pins are big, bad and if you race DH, why the hell don't you have shinpads anyway, so stop your crying. They are relatively cheap, strong, and all around good quality. BUY THEM!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$35.00 | | Purchased At: | auction on e-Bay | | Strengths: | Awesome gripping, concaved, slick bearings, removeable pins, cool design | | Weaknesses: | None so far! | | Similar Products Used: | Stock clips, older SPDs (aka death traps) | | Bike Setup: | 2001 Schwinn Moab 3 | | Bottom Line: | I did a lot of research on pedals before I bought these. I really wanted to get a pair of Kore platform pedals. BUT, I just couldn't spend $80-$100 on them. Thanks to other reviews I made a very wise choice to get the ZUZU's. I found them brand new on e-bay for $35. I wear Airwalks with them and I usually wiggle my shoe a little and I'm locked in. I have had some near death (shin) experiences. But other than that the ZUZU's will out perform just about anything. Sure you could go spend twice as much on the Kore's, but I can almost guarantee you'll be waisting your money. Overall this is a top performer platform pedal for a fraction of the price. I just can't say enough good things about these pedals! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$45.00 | | Purchased At: | The bike company | | Strengths: | Grips to your shoes like glue, super tuff, slick looks, sealed, and not too expensive. | | Weaknesses: | They will f*#k you up if you slip a pedal. Get some shin guards!! | | Similar Products Used: | Various other platforms | | Bike Setup: | Santa Cruz Bullit, Mr.T, Race Face. | | Bottom Line: | I bought these pedals after I snaped my last platforms clean off my crank arm. I just happened to be a block away from the LBS when I broke my pedal off, and I bought these as a quick replacement. Little did I know that these pedals are the sh*t. Even after smacking huge rocks on tech. single tracks these bad boys simply laugh it off. I can't say enough about em'. I give them five hot ones. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Beech Grove, IN, USA Date Reviewed: April 23, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Nebo Ridge | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Excellent grip, concave surface, big enough for an NBA player's foot, great sealed bearings | | Weaknesses: | If your foot ever DOES slip, you're gonna lose a whole lot of skin! Might want to invest in shin guards. | | Similar Products Used: | The toe-strap junk that came on my bike, various BMX-type pedals | | Bike Setup: | Trek 4500 stock (for now), with the exception of these pedals. | | Bottom Line: | I was a little concerned when I first bought these pedals that I was gonna lose a lot of the meat off my shins. Not so! I rode Nebo Ridge last weekend (lots of roots, rocks, bumps, and jumps) and didn't slip once! Not bad considering how tweeked my rims were when I got done. By far the best pedal I've ever used. And the price is under $50! Go get some. You'll love 'em! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from orlando, Florida USA Date Reviewed: March 21, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Hardrock | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Smooth bearings, sticky, beefy, nice to see pedals for us guys with big hammers! What about the price?! Super nice deal. You can get these for $44 through Dans Competition! Compare to Kore which are probably twice as much | | Weaknesses: | The only problem I have is aesthetically, not how the look but some blemishes in the smoothness of the paint. Some bumps here and there, but this means nothing really. | | Similar Products Used: | SPDs, etc | | Bike Setup: | Oxygen Race '00, Turbine LPs, LX/XT, Azonic shorty stem, Titec Berserkr DH Saddle, SRAM 7.0 calipers | | Bottom Line: | You simply can't beat this for the money. If you have big hammers (ie. feet), the cheapest clipless shoe out there is made by sidi and it will run you ~$200. Plus, if freeriding is your thing then these work great. Sun makes some killer stuff at great prices! The only drawback to a pedal like this, of course, is that they will tear up your shins but that's to be expected. Just remember to buy some Fox pads:)
I highly recommend these pedals. Five flaming Chilis! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Thinking... drawing a blank... | | Similar Products Used: | clip/strap, Shimano 545, Bonty RE-1 | | Bike Setup: | Trek 930, XT, Z.3 LT, azonic, etc | | Bottom Line: | Superb pedal. Went to a recent pits jam and watched in amusement as the other hairscramblers cursed their SPDs in knee-deep mud, and then pulled my dirt-caked Vans out of the puddle, clomped them on my Ringles, and plowed onward. Perfect for DH, DS, and really hairy/muddy singletrack - no worries, no clipping, just get on and go. Also good for size-14-footed dudes like me who have issues finding SPD shoes that fit - nice big platform to these things. Only wish they weren't so expen$ive... but d@mn if they aren't worth it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
