Strengths:    Fast smooth shifts, price

Weaknesses:    None

Bottom Line:
My bike came with a shimano deore rear der and it always missed shifts and lagged a lot especially when down shifting before a hill climb. Upgraded to the x9 and like it a lot more. It shifts fast and smooth when properly adjusted (like all good derailleurs should). I think I paid about $130 for it from blue sky and once I had it adjusted properly I havent had any problems with it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is frustrated with their current set up.

I'd like to try a type 2 rear derailleur to help with chain slap, but i don't want to go complete 10 spd, other than swapping the pulleys for 9 spd ones, any suggestions or thoughts if this will work.Read More »
