Strengths:    Cheap, slick shifts, easy setup, durable (within the constraints of the price point)

Weaknesses:    Heavy, quirky looking (though not ugly to my eye)

Bottom Line:
I have a very cheap (~£50) steel clunker here in China for shopping and short camping trips, to save my expensive road bike from horrible road surfaces and occasional thieves. The components that came with it were useless but basically free frame ornaments at this price. The rear derailleur very soon was only selecting the highest and lowest cogs, as there was so much play in the pivots that it wouldn't stay in any intermediate gears. I snagged this tx35 derailleur new for 70rmb, about 8-9$. I didn't want to fit anything more expensive given the poor quality of the rest of the bike. Shifting is a revelation, even with cheap imitation sunrace gripshifts. Smooth, quiet, dependable, just like it's higher end siblings (I use Deore- LX normally, with a vintage XTR setup on one of my bikes). Sure it's heavy, but in terms of shift quality, it really punches above its weight. Highly recommended for keeping commuters and clunkers in service.
