Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $30.00
Strengths:Acceleration, Torque, Reliabilty is ok
Weaknesses:Shifting.
Similar Products Used:Sram ESP
Bike Setup:Schwinn Clear Creek
Bottom Line:I ride my bike almost everyday on trails, through mud, and in water, and it still makes my bike move. It doesn't shift well or into the right gear most of the time but it is still working. I need to get the system replaced though. Someone who works on bikes told me by the noises he hears when I pedal, the system is about wore out. He said this baout a month a go. The noises still come but the bike still moves. I ride over bumps and everything and it is very strong. I ride up very steep hills, and many other things of the like because where I live it's pretty much all off road. The system has made my Schwinn Clear Creek fun though. And fast. I like it even if it is plastic who cares.

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Get's the job done for a year or so for a cheap one.
Weaknesses:It's a horrible derailleur in terms of durability
Bottom Line:It sucks. If you can get a good bike without it, good.

Similar Products Used:acera i dont know get an lx or something, if it has big pullys dont get it doero or whatever is good too
Bike Setup:full xt and hone alittle xtr though scott frame!
Bottom Line:ok so i dont have one, i got an xt, but two of my buddys HAD one but then i broke both cause i shifted and we were on grass so i got that one a cheap lx for 50 bucks both got in the spokes and i kill them, so i ride hard but dont get a der. with big pullys! get like a lx cause it just last years model of xt with not all the sweet cool stuff, but it cost half of an xt so you will blow your brains out if you get a good der. it really makes a defference and youll like your bike a lot more

Favorite Trail:Jack Brooks
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Came on discount sto
Strengths:Inexpensive, does the job
Weaknesses:Cheap, flexible
Bike Setup:Schwinn commuter hybrid
Bottom Line:LOL, I can't imagine anyone using this derailluer off-road. This derailluer is a cheapo discount store part, but it does actually reliably do the job on my hybrid that I ride to work most every day, time will tell if the plastic gears hold up. For normal street riding it's fine, for trails it would probably quit working after the first few bumps.

Submitted by Jon a Cross Country Rider from Brisbane, Australia
Date Reviewed: May 4, 2008
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $26.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Cheap. Does well on an onroad hybrid.
Weaknesses:Forget about offroad. The weak spring is potentially disastrous when shifting on rough terrain. I ended up breaking two spokes when it shifted off the largest sprocket under load and went into the spokes, destroying itself in the process. On the other hand my hybrid has about a thousand kilometres on it and the Tourney does well there as the needs are less challenging. Not the crispest shifting but does very well for its price
Similar Products Used:Shimano SIS, Deore XT
Bike Setup:1997 Gemini Echo Beach, Deore FD, Alivio cranks/chainwheels and shifters
Bottom Line:Do not use offroad unless you like trailside repairs. Limping home in singlespeed is no fun in hilly terrain. The weak spring is its biggest enemy, spend the extra money on at least a Deore class RD.

Date Reviewed: January 8, 2008
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $5.00
Purchased At:Velorution
Strengths:Cheap and simple
Weaknesses:frequently get smashed up by ending up in rear wheel
Constanly need tunning
weak when it come to jumps and air
bolt come loose easily (hazard on the trail)
Made of PLASTIC!!!
Similar Products Used:altus
alivio
Bike Setup:a custom bike with alot of crap parts
Bottom Line:Do not buy unless for walmart bike repair. It is horrible and unreliable. I have hit alot of jumps which always end up with it broken. Go for an altus or deore for the extra money, since they will last longer
