Strengths:    Very durable. Not too expensive. Shadow+ feature (low-profile, chain management).

Weaknesses:    I don't think this has any weaknesses at this price point.

Bottom Line:
So I had just gotten my Shimano XT Dyna-sys system (non-Shadow+), second hand as this was a take off purchased from a guy who just bought a complete bicycle and swapped out for XX. Brand new just installed and on the maiden voyage of my new XT Dyna-sys I broke the derailleur off on a stick that came up and junked my drivetrain. I rode this as a single speed of a month (magic gear) and placed this derailleur on order. I got it installed with a new Deore level chain, what a difference it has made. The SLX platform is very durable and reliable from what I can tell. With the Shadow+ lever on it stiffens up the whole system and prevents chain slap and noise but does not increase the resistance of the shift lever; basically it is not all that much harder to switch gears with the lever engaged. This really gives my bike a solid feel and high end performance, but at a price point I can get down with. I have more than one bicycle. After I tried this on my 29er hardtail I got it for my 26" hardtail and just purchased another one for my 160mm front and rear trail bike. To me this makes a difference in my ride experience.

Favorite Trail:   The one that I am on.

Similar Products Used:   Shimano XT Shadow+ which I have on my 130mm front and rear XC bike.

Bike Setup:   I have this on a 26" hardtail 1x10.
I also have this on a 29" hardtail 1x10.
This will also go on my 26" 160mm front and rear trail bike!

Strengths:    Did perform well for almost 6 months.

Weaknesses:    The shadow plus spring stopped functioning after around 6 months, so now it is as good as a shadow without the plus.
Maybe tension is even a little less than the tension of an ordinary derailleur.

Bottom Line:
Not much to say that is not mentioned above.
While the shadow plus spring was OK it was great, thereafter not so great.
Next try will be a XT shadow plus as I do not like the noise that comes with the SRAM shifting system.
