Strengths: This FD has work great for my touring bicycle that I built from NashBar.I use friction shift only on both front and rear. It's so easy to shift with a 26,36,46T chainring.Weaknesses: NoneBottom Line: I like to try to keep all my parts in good working order at all times.

Strengths: When it is dialed in, you can barely feel the shifts. Even under significant tension it works really well.Weaknesses: The clearances between the chain and FD cage are very small. The design seems to accumulate a lot more mud and debris than other FD's.Bottom Line: I havent had any luck getting this thing to shift consistently. Every time I get it dialed in halfway through the ride I hear the chain rubbing the FD cage again. I have tried realligned it on the frame numerous times and nothing seems to help. When it does work, its an awesome product. Shifts are imperceptible.

Strengths: MTB specific Shimano SLX FD DP/TS M665 greatly improved shifting for 2 ring set up(SLX Crank set). SLX FD paired with SRAM X.0 trigger shifters. Smooth and consistent FD shifting even when climbing.Weaknesses: SLX FD shifts between 2 chain ring SLX Crank set perfectly when I feel the X.O Trigger shifter click. SLX FD occasionally misses when climbing going from small chain ring to upper chain ring if I don't feel the X.0 Trigger shifter clickBottom Line: Bottom line - Outstanding FD from Shimano. Curious if the SLX FD would accentuate better if paired with a Shimano Trigger shifter as opposed to the SRAM X.0. I have been extremely pleased with the SLX FD for performance and performance per price point. Highly recommended...
