Strengths: Smooth shifting, looks good and nice.
Weaknesses: Non- so far
Bottom Line:
I use this bike for training and exercise it shift smooth and fast. Not like the OEM from my trek. We recomend it to any one a not to expensive parts but good enough quality for the price, never have a problem with it.

Strengths: Well Built, Smooth Shifiting, Easy to install, Great Price
Weaknesses: Not to many but, I dont understand why Shimano's high end XT rear derailleurs come with out a barrel adjuster to do the fine tunning. Also there is alittle more vertical movement over rough terrain compared to a SRAM X.9, X.7 or X.5
Bottom Line:
For the price I paid this rear derailleur is well worth the money paid. Well built, strong, shifts great and looks good. Only issues I had with this product is that it lacks the rear barrel adjuster needed to do fine tuning and the vertical movement over rough terrain (which shimano has greatly reduced over the years) is still there compared to a SRAM X.0 or X.9

Strengths: Like that Shimano got rid of the anodized silver color.
Weaknesses: I'm pissed. Shimano cheapened this derailler from the RD M761. The 761 had a cable adjustment screw on the derailler; the 771 does not. This is ridiculous! Now, you have to do all the fine tuning for rear derailler from the front cable adjustor. It took me almost 40 min today to get this rig set up for the rear derailler. Previously, fine tuning the rear derailler was a 3 min job. Maybe this is why SRAM is making a lot of inroads into Shimano. Why did they do this?
Bottom Line:
Would NOT buy this derailler again. Unless I have rear adjustment for the rear derailler, I'm not buying it. This wasn't for weight improvement because the Deore is not the top end derailler. This was strictly a cost reduction by Shimano. Unfortunately, they have lost any future business from me. I was wanting to upgrade my Trek 5500 carbon road bike to Shimano 7800 Dura Ace 10 speed. Now they have convinced me to go SRAM Red.
