Strengths: Buttery smooth shifting, low normal design is AMAZING for uphill shifting on the fly, precise - when properly adjusted virtually no ghost shifting.Weaknesses: Needs periodic adjustment to function perfectly. Not happy when an errant stick runs through it's pulleys.Bottom Line: The low normal ( rapid rise ) design is so intuitive, I do not understand why all rear derailleurs are not set up this way. If you have always used a top normal (standard) rear derailleur, this model may take some getting used to but it is worth it. There is nothing like downshifting at will while climbing a steep incline and feeling NOTHING from your bike's transmission - no grating, no clunking, no chain complaints whatsoever. Just a smooth transition from one gear to the next. I get shivers just thinking about it.

Strengths: Shifting is even smoother than rd-m772 (shadow) when combined with Dua-Control leversWeaknesses: DurabilityBottom Line: I don't know if I got a lemon, but about a couple of months ago I upgraded my shifting/brake levers to Dual-Control (ST-m775), which is a great set by the way. And decided to test the rd-m770 (low normal), since is supposed to work great with the dual control levers. It DOES work great, wonderful shifting, it takes a while to get used to the reversed shifting but once got used, shifting felt great.
However, only after 2 months, when cornering a fallen tree, somehow after that, the derailleur broke, my chain broke in consequence of that and had to walk 3 miles back to the parking lot.
