Sloppy and short-lived.

Specialized Stumpjumper FSR
Bottom Line:
I do not know what has happened to these components. They are not made well anymore. For comparison, I have some 10-yr+ old XT stuff around that is still as tight as the day it was made. This stuff, you're lucky if it lasts a year. This FD was OEM on the bike I bought, and was sloppy within one season of casual-ish (40-50 trail miles/wk) riding. have had the same problems with front and rear XT and XTR, no such probs with SRAM X.0, X.9. Wondering what they are doing wrong at Shimano...

Duration Product Used:

Price Paid:
$42.00
Purchased At:
Local bike shop
Strengths:
Replaced original XT derailleur(FD 760)on bike after some damage and I could not properly set. Smoothest shifter of all the XT front derailleurs. Unlike other XT derailleurs, if set properly, the chain does not rub when in the largest chain ring up front.
Weaknesses:
The XT logo cut into the top of the cage is a weak point. Bends easily if hit.
Similar Products Used:
XT FD 760
XT FD 772
Bike Setup:
Mostly stock 2005 Marin Attack Trail.
Bottom Line:
Very good derailleur, but, marked down to 4 due to weakspot
at XT logo cut into top of cage.
