John KDate Reviewed: September 12, 2012
Strengths: Held up to constant abuse for 2 years with no failures. What more can you ask for...Weaknesses: Thread insert on the right pedal ripped out on a steep downhill causing the pedal to tear off. Not available in 34-22 or 36-22...Bottom Line: When the crankarm threaded insert let go on a steep downhill the pedal tore off and caused a crash. Not an ideal situation but considering the crankset gave me over 2 years of trouble free riding it understandable & acceptable. I just ordered the same crankset as a replacement, why yo ask, because this crankset gave me better service life then Shimano cranks I have had in the past.

Strengths: strongWeaknesses: bottom bracketBottom Line: the crankset is good for what it is, however the bb is just bad. mine lasted 200 miles of light xc before falling apart. replacement bb is 40-50$ and you it is proprietary. i would give 4 stars if you could use any bb with it, but it is not the case.

Strengths: Very rugged and strong, I feel like it's made to move a tank. I can't imagine breaking these. And if they do, just replace them for cheap.Weaknesses: I think the chainrings should have been made with options for greater tooth count. 34 and 36 options would be nice.Bottom Line: Cheap, reliable, rugged, can really take alot of abuse. I like that it comes with a bottom bracket, and they whole setup cost $60. Killer deal.

Strengths: incredibly strong, smooth, stylishWeaknesses: heavyBottom Line: This is the best crank system that I have ridden. The howitzer bottom bracket is much better than the shimano xt square taper. This crank can take abuse. It is also less expensive than other exterior bottom bracket systems.

from Cloncurry. AustraliaDate Reviewed: June 18, 2008
Strengths: The product is cheap, and is of reasonable quality. It has taken a couple of heavy hits and has come out fine.Weaknesses: Bash gard has fractured and needed replacing. Replaced it with an E-Thirteen gaurd that not as hard and fragile.Bottom Line: It is a good product for what you pay, but isn't the best in the world. I would not have any concerns about any of the more expensive truvative products if this crank set is any thing to go by.

Strengths: Stiff, bashguard works, replaceable sprocketsWeaknesses: howitzer connectionBottom Line: I bought this so I could clear logs and curbs when out riding around, and for that it worked, but I was simply commuting to school when the left crank gave away under my foot, it stripped the bolt that holds on the crank arm, and tore all the splines out of the crank itself. I don't know if I just got a defect part or not, but at this point in time I'm still trying to contact Truvativ.
