Shimano designed the Saint FC-M815-1 Crankset for the increasing number of downhill and freeride bikes with wider bottom bracket shells. Made for 83mm bottom brackets and 57.5mm chainlines, this crankset works with a single chainring and bashguard configuration. Available chainrings include 34, 36, 38, 41, and 42T. Any four-arm 104mm BCD bashguard will fit. The included SM-BB80 bottom bracket features cups with longer threads so it will comply with any aftermarket chain guide system.
This is a review of the 810-1's, but there was no listing so i placed it here.
My progression in cranks has been 760>770>665>810-1. Every step has been an improvement, but this last one was the least noticeable. They are noticably lighter than the SLX cranks, and stiffer, too, but the price tag may be a bit off-putting considering the improvement is not vast. the main reason for the upgrade was the single-ring specific nature and a change in arm length. i am in no way disappointed with these, even at the 50% higher price, but i can not see the point in using these over the new ZEE model if you are building from scratch.
