Strengths: This is a great product. Shifts exceedingly well! It catches the chain very quickly and smoothly, even though I have a cheaper derailleur for it. It is very light and strong, with no flexing what so ever. Easy to do regular maintenance (I haven't done any major ones yet). It has smooth, quiet pedaling and very powerful for cranking out faster speeds. For the lower gears, it works pretty good and I don’t miss the lowest setting if I was to have the smaller chain rings.Weaknesses: The aluminum chain rings. It is a bit fragile, especially for a product that is supposed to be for outdoors. After three months and about a 1000 miles, they have a fair amount of wear. One bike mechanic noted that I have about a year to a year and half left on the rings! And the rings aren't cheap to replace.Bottom Line: Great product with minor draw backs on the weakness of the chain rings. Otherwise, I love this product. Extremely smooth pedaling, strong (no flexing), and quiet. NOTE: I mostly use my bike for commuting; this explains the reason for the larger chain rings. But I do one or two weekend warriors a month. On flat road (with commuting tires) I do about 20 miles per hour, which keeps me up with some of the road bikers. Which usually results in a comment from them, "You can keep up with me on a mountain bike!"
Review for riding on trails: I also think these are great, but please note, I live on the east coast and our mountains are small. I don't think these cranks would be that great if I was on the west coast, with steeper climbs, unless you are a very strong climber.
