Favorite Trail:Fujimi
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $210.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Cranks are nice and light compared to most of the others out there. Extremely stong, no flex, very smooth.
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:Truvativ Blaze, FSA's, Shimano Deore.
Bike Setup:'07 Stumpjumper FSR Elite, XTR groupo, XT cranks, Bomber 140mm fork, King Headset
Bottom Line:For the price I paid for these cranks, they are unbeatable. Every other set of cranks I have used I could feel flex during hard climbs. A few hard shifts caused bent chainrings on Truvativ. These XT's are light, stiff and definitely hold up to alot of abuse. Get these cranks! You won't be disappointed.

Favorite Trail:Four Winns, Lake of the Ozarks State Park
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $240.00
Purchased At:Oz CYcles
Strengths:Stiff. Light. Strong. Good shifting and long lasting chainrings. good bearings, spins with light resistance.
Weaknesses:bottom bracket seals. water and mud got into mine after a super wet spring and ruined the bearings. However from wat I have read elswhere this is an atribute of all brands of externall bottom brackets. Thats OK it sure makes a noticeable difference in stiffness and the bottom bracket cups are cheap
Similar Products Used:LX and deore 3 piece splined.
Bike Setup:Custom built 08 trek fuel ex 8 with full xt drivetrain
Bottom Line:Killer crank for the dough. Shimano makes the best chainrings by far. THe only other crank i would own would be xtr, if I could afford it.

Date Reviewed: July 8, 2008
Favorite Trail:28
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $182.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:light weight, excellent power transfer to rear wheel
Weaknesses:Klunks even after the lbs honed the bb shell and installed it for me. It is nerve racking when hammering to have the bottom bracket klunking. It is loud enough that my friends ask me what is wrong with my bike.
Similar Products Used:older XT, LX, STX Cranks, Suntour cranks, race face
Bike Setup:2006 stumpjumper fsr pro, fox suspension front and rear, XTR shifters and deraileurs, XT crank, Chris King headset, front and rear Chris King hubs laced to dt Swiss 4.1d rims, avid juicey carbon brakes
Bottom Line:I would be completely satified with this crank if I could get it to shut up will peddling under load (granny gear) on long steep grinds. Honing the bottom bracket was useless and shimano has turned off their email tech support line. I am thinking of replacing it with a different crank (older XT/XTR or different brand) because of the klanking problem. Would not recommend this product.

Favorite Trail:beaver dam
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $270.00
Purchased At:Trek Bikes Of Raleigh
Strengths:Very stiff, super smooth, shifts well
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:lx, deore
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher wahoo with xtr and xt
Bottom Line:Shimano took care of the middle chain ring problem, this one is made of a blend of alloy and aluminum. This crankset is incredibly stiff. It spins very smooth. So far I have had no problems at all with them. I would definitly recommend that you take a look at them.
