Similar Products Used:   This is my first 2 ring crankset so I cannot compare it to anything I've used before. However, I can say that 2 ring set up is far smoother and simplified than a 3 ring set up so if you are considering it and you are in good shape, it will only enhance your riding experience and output.

Strengths:    Beatiful design, finally perfect gearing, shifting precission. Black looks awesome when clean.

Weaknesses:    None, black attracts the dust.

Bottom Line:
This crank rocks, 38/26 rings finally offer the perfect gering for my trail bike. Instant and very precise shifting. No more misshifts and chain slap is gone. My average speed increased by 2 km/h (1.25 mph) when started to use this crank. Most of the time I ride on larger ring, only on steeper hills I shift to smaller one. 99% of shifting is done with rear derailleur an full range of cogs can finally be used.
38/26 crank paired with 12-34 cassette offers a perfect gear combination. Only going downhill may require 11 teeth cog. 10-speed cassete with 36 large cog is definitely an overkill.
Shimano is claiming that XT 785 crank has to be used with 10-speed HG-X chain, but I use 9-speed SRAM chain and it works perfectly. No rubbing, instant shifting. I also use 9-speed XT shifters an I set-up the larger chainring for high and smaller chainring as middle pod position. After few rides no visible wear on the crankset.
The only complain is that the dust is visible on the black finish.
Since I use this crank I feel like I became a better rider and my bike got a motor.
Very good price from Chain Reaction Cycles (UK), three day delivery and free shipping.
