Date Reviewed: April 15, 2009
Favorite Trail:Any
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $185.00
Strengths:Very stiff. VERY stiff. Nice, simple, no-nonsense design. They look nice too.
Weaknesses:None. Different versions that were compatible with other axle types might have been nice, but I've had nothing but good experience with Shimano Octalink bottom brackets.
Similar Products Used:Shimano XTR, Shimano XT
Bike Setup:Mountain Cycle Rumble (hard-tail). Also use Blackspire Badger cranks on a Mountain Cycle San Andreas (dual suspension)
Bottom Line:There's really not a heck of a lot to say about these cranks other than that they are an outstanding product. I am a heavy rider (about 225lbs), and I've definitely done some things to put a hurtin' on these cranks. They haven't failed. No loosening, no creaking, no problems whatsoever. And, they are stiff as can be. I really cannot see myself ever purchasing another brand or model.

Date Reviewed: December 29, 2002
Favorite Trail:Phantom
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $190.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Verrry Strong. Shimano Octalink.Great finish.
Weaknesses:None really.
Similar Products Used:Race Face
Bike Setup:Kona Stinky
Bottom Line:These are a great buy. They are very strong, and as long as you keep the bolts tight until the splines seat. They will probably be the last cranks you will ever have to buy.

I would buy them again, and probably will retrofit at least
one of my other bikes with the same crank, but I think
the DH model which is pretty sweet as well.
