| | Bottom Line: | DO NOT BUY THESE RINGS PERIOD. ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO THE BIKE
SHOP THAT SOLD ME MY BIKE INSTALLED THE AVITAR MIDDLE AND
BIG RINGS TO REPLACE THE SUGINOS WITH BROKEN TEETH. I'D
RATHER HAVE THE PREMATURE WEAR AND BROKEN TEETH THAN THE
SHIFTING OF THESE AVATARS. I SPEND HOURS FIDDLING WITH DERAILER ADJUSTMENTS TRYING TO GET THESE THINGS TO WORK.
3 BIKE MECANICS IN 3 DIFFERNT SHOPS TRIED TO GET THESE
RINGS TO WORK WITH MEDIOCRE RESULTS AT BEST. THESE RINGS
HAVE RUINED SOOOOO MANY BIKING AND CAMPING TRIPS FOR ME.
AFTER 18 MONTHS WITH THESE THINGS I RESORTED TO A 4TH
BIKE MECANIC WHO SUGGESTED ANOTHER SET OF SUGINOS OR
SHIMANO. I PICKED SHIMANO AND THE BIKE SHIFTS FLAWLESS.
I WILL POST A REVEIW ON THESE AFTER 3 MOUNTHS.
I WOULD RATE THESE AT 0 CHILIS BUT THE SYST REQUIERES
AT LEAST 1.

These chainrings are the cheapest line that Avitar makes. I bought a middle chainring, and it has held up OK, but the lack of shift ramps is a problem. The upshifts are not quite as smooth, and on the downshifts, I had problems with the chain getting jammed between the chainrings. I solved those problems by turning the chainring around so that the bolts stick out slighty, so that the bolts act as shift ramps. It works, but from now on I'm paying a little more to get shift ramps. | | Overall Rating: |
